Does Anybody Still Care About Woody Allen?
...I mean, I still think that *I* kind of do, but more and more, it seems like I'm the only one. Or, at least, I continue to hold out hope, even though he keeps on letting me down. I just watched the trailer for his new film, Melinda and Melinda, which stars Will Ferrell, Chloe Sevigny, Wallace Shawn and Amanda Peet, and opens in New York on March 18. It looks somewhat less unfunny than his last few films, and certainly benefits from a better concept than his recent overtrodden dreck (that means you, Anything Else). Take a look - tell me what you think.

I still make an effort to see his new movies as they come out, and find him a great director of actors and actresses. However, his stories and scriptwriting have grown tedious over the years. If he were to slow down his production he could regain his greatness of the 70's and 80's that we glimpsed during the post-Mia years ("Mighty Aphordite" and "Bullets Over Broadway" especially). Let's face it, a movie a year is the fast way to burnout as he doesn't allow himself the time to rework his ideas anymore.
