Tykwer's Perfume
According to Reuters, Run Lola Run director Tom Tykwer will direct his own adaptation of Patrick Suskind's novel Perfume, starring Dustin Hoffman, Ben Whishaw and Alan Rickman. Perfume tells the tale of an 18th-century Frenchman who becomes obsessed with concocting a perfume based on the scent of a young virgin. This is not the first adaptation of Suskind's book: at the time of the release of In Utero in 1993, Kurt Cobain made it widely known that Perfume was his "favorite book", and had served as the inspiration for the Nirvana song, "Scentless Apprentice."
