Is Joss Whedon Looking For Wonder in The O.C.?
Filed under: Action, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Casting
There are reports swirling around the web that Mischa Barton - who currently spends most of her time pairing petulant alcoholic bisexuality with Marc Jacobs seperates as Marissa Cooper on The O.C. - is at the top of the list of potential stars for Joss Whedon's Wonder Woman. This sounds great - except for the fact that it doesn't at all. As Moviehole astutely points out, Barton's O.C. costar Rachel Bilson very convincingly wore the Wonder Woman costume last season to seduce Seth Cohen - and, she's a much sexier, much more interesting actress than the milquetoast Barton, who for all her dishwater-glamour doesn't strike me as super-heroine material. Also on the list: 7th Heaven alumna Jessica Biel. Not much of a choice. Whedon has apparently discounted reports that he may employ Sarah Michelle Gellar, Eliza Dushku, or any other actress once used on Buffy or Angel. Who would you cast in the role? I think Dushku - Buffy's Faith - would be awesome.

Eliza Dushku? Oh yes. Especially if she employed the whole Buffy/Faith sadomasochistic sexiness--like, Wonder Woman with her lasso of truth and a pair of leather restraints.

I'd suggest Jessica Alba but, as we've seen, she can't act her way out of a paper bag. So I'd go with Elisha Cuthbert, she has more of a saucy, Linda-Carter-type-thing going on.

I hope they bring back Linda Carter in a cameo--maybe as Wonder Woman's mother.
to Mack: Isn't Jessica Alba to play the Invisible Woman in the upcoming Fantastic Four release?

Altho Joss evidently wants an early-'20s actress for the part, Charisma Carpenter is the obvious choice. She is perfectly suited for the role, in size, beauty, physical appearance, and athleticism.

I am with you on the Charisma Carpenter thing. I hadn't really thought about it, but that would be great. She is tall, dark skinned, good actress, and freaking amazing. If she lost a few pounds from her last few roles, then she would be a perfect fit for WW.

OK, it just came to me who the perfect actress would be for WW -- how about Gina Torres who worked with Joss on Firefly and Serenity as the swashbuckling Zoe.
She is tall and beautiful and can be funny. I've often heard her described as "an amazon".
You might also have seen her in the last two Matrix movies, and the TV series 24 and Hercules/Xena.
Two thumbs way up!

I think Charisma Carpenter would make a perfect Wonder Woman. She's an excellant actress and looks the part. She's also proven on Angel that she knows how to fight or at least looks like she can.

Just a thought, but isn't Dushku 5'2" or 5'3" at the most?
Wonder Woman was an Amazonian. That means tall and lanky. That's probably why he's looking for taller girls like Barton.
But honestly, unless the script calls for a not fully developed teenage girl, why aren't we hearing anything about actual women? What about somebody like Catherine Zeta Jones, who sounds like she's got some years under her lasso belt?

I would definitely have to say Rachel Bilson from the O.C. would make a perfect fit. Just check out how she looked in the wonder woman costume!
