Sofia Coppola Furious With Alain Delon
Oscar-winning filmmaker Sofia Coppola (Lost In Translation) is furious with french actor Alain Delon after he used her offer of a role in upcoming movie for his own publicity. My question is: is she ever happy? I've yet to see her smile.Coppola thought Delon was the perfect actor to play monarch Louis XV in her third feature Marie-Antoinette, but eventually settled on American actor Rip Torn after Delon said no.
A source told Page Six, that the actor led her to believe she could talk him into accepting the role. He invited her to see him in a play, and talked backstage afterward where there were two photographers waiting to take pictures of her and Delon, before going out to dinner. The next morning, the photos of her and Delon appeared in the papers having been "obviously pre-planned," with captions saying that Delon had refused Coppola's offer.
Delon says that he can't be in a movie where he has to wear a wig, but that he would do "any contemporary movie she offered him."
Coppola is currently shooting the film in France staring Kirsten Dunst, Jason Schwartzman (her cousin) and Rip Torn.

No. The last time she smiled was as part of her performance in Godfather III. After seeing said performance, she's never managed to muster that smile back (despite her much better performance as a director).

Check the extras for Lost in Translation. I think she smiles in those. You might want to go into super slo-mo though just to be sure.
As for Delon? Fucking Froggie.

I met Sophia long time ago. Though she was occupied with paper work and a video she was cutting she took the time not only to smile but to say hello. I do not understand why she should be the subject of ridicule. She is a good girl and she has shown so far a great talent. COURAGE SOPHIA.
It is a great honor to have an American make a movie about the queen of hell Marie Antoinette.
We should be greatful that Sophia is shooting this sort of epic. She deserves a lot more respect than you are granting her.
