The Pacifier Blows Up Overseas
Filed under: Action, Comedy, New Releases
As much as we'd perhaps like it to be otherwise, it looks like Vin Diesel-driven family pic The Pacifier just won't die. Six weeks after its domestic premiere, not only has it passed the $100 million mark in the States, but it's doing explosive business overseas. This weekend it placed at #1 in nine of the ten international markets in which it opened. Back when XXX came out and Diesel was the subject of several (somewhat sceptical) magazine profiles, he payed a lot of lip service to wanting to be taken seriously as an actor. By essentially remaking Kindergarten Cop as his "comeback", do you think he has any chance in hell of remaking himself once again as a quality thespian?

I take it you donīt think anyone involved in those projects remained "quality" artists just because they were flops? Gold coin... mud... And, hey, The Wiz isnīt a movie... it is a cheesy, glitzy, spirit-of-its-time, neon lighted "black is beautiful" political statement! For kids! As a colored kid in the seventies world of blond Barbies, I loved it.
