New Superman is scary
Bryan Singer will go down in history as
creating one of the best comic book to big screen translations ever
with his two X-Men movies. Taking on Superman, especially so soon
after Christopher Reeves death, is not quite as easy a task. Unlike
Batman, Superman needs the bright comic book suit. This image of the
new actor portraying Superman, Brandon Routh, in Superman Returns
is lackluster to say the least. Aint It Cool News has a huge
version for you geeks. But to me there is no need for a new Superman
movie. Batman could always use a refreshing and there is a very dark
tone that was missed in previous versions. Superman doesn't really
need a redeux right now. Smallville does an excellent job at
retelling the story in a new and different way but do we need a new
movie?

Of course we do! Or at least Warner Bros. needs it. Now that the Matrix franchise has ended they need to revitalize their in-house properties. Since they own DC Comics that batch of characters is the natural fit.
They especially need to get these in gear for the simple reason that Marvel has been all over the movie houses with adaptations for five unanswered years. That's why, artistically needed or not, they pulled out their two big guns in Batman and Superman to try and make a big impression right away. Next will be Wonder Woman, then Green Lantern and so on and so on.

Yeah but there is one HUGE DC comic that needs to be done today if you want to make more money than with superman. Matrix money.
THE SANDMAN
Its dark, freaky, edgy and there is a perfect a-list actor to play the part. Adrian Brody.

they had a dark tone but were also cartoonish in the eerie tim burton way. They weren't dark/cool. Like a matrix etc.

Check out Chud dot com someday, you'll find about a billion superman afficianado's really upset about this superman... The word "Gay" is promenant. Many are saying that Brian Singer is gay as well. lol. Be that as it may, The X-men movies were not that great... they were fair... it may take about 50 years for many of you to realize this though.

The Tim Burton Batman movies were over ten years ago, and the ones made since then were increasingly silly.
However, Batman Begins looks like it is going to be the movie I've been hoping for.
I don't think Superman is something that works well on screen. As the article says, he has to have that bright-blue suit. They could hardly do what they did with the X-Men: dump the suits and just wear black leather.
Maybe they should have done it as a big-budget animated movie. He'd look less silly that way.

I am deeply dissappointed that WB felt they needed to leave the cast of "Smallville" on the small screen. They have done an EXCELLENT job of giving us a wonderful adventure along with Clark ... just as he's getting ready to figure out where his destiny is taking him. Couldn't they have timed the next "big budget" film with the show to tranisition it (ala, the Star Trek:NG transistion model)????

I LOVE SUPERMAN MOVIES and it would be great to make another but the guy in the picture, that is not Superman thats not even funny come on now we could do a better casting job then that. The new Superman should be tall built looking but not to big longer hair this time around and not to young looking superman is still a man he has to fit well in a white collar journalist suite too.

First, I don't know abut this actors acting skills but he does not resemble superman at all. they should have used the smallville kid. other than thatr, the chest "S" symbol should be much larger and the red should be bright fire engine red, not maroon.
