Sizemore must stay off sauce, probably shouldn't go to Thailand
Filed under: Casting, Celebrities and Controversy
Tom Sizemore just turned down a role in The Fifth Commandment ("Thou shalt not kill," FYI), which would be filming in Thailand. In an unprecedented moment of good judgment, Sizemore determined that going to Thailand—where dependence on drugs and booze is a requirement for all working visas—might not be a good idea. Thus far, the actor has stayed clean for 3 weeks, consulted with his parents, and found God (not related to previously mentioned film). But still he faces some pesky probation violations that could land him in jail for up to 3 years. Jail is probably as bad as Thailand in terms of encouraging vices, so we're hoping he doesn't end up there, either.

I loved Michael Mann's television show: Robbery Homicide Division that starred Sizemore. I thought it was beautifully done and think they got a bad break when it was cancelled. But nobody was watching it. And, lest we forget, Sizemore's been in some excellent films. SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, HEAT, BORN ON THE FOURTH OF JULY and more. Google IMDB and look at his credits. This guy's been hired by the best because he can portray a dangerous character with a heart. A certain amount of that "edginess" seems to spring from his own life. Really good actor.

A woman beater. A drug and alcohol addict. A liar and a homophobic anti-gay asshole. He should be in jail serving his sentence. Everytime someone trips and gets caught they find God as if God was lost and they found him. What a croque of doodoo. I would not believe his acting abilities even if they were offered to me on a silver platter. He has to spend his time in jail. I do not understand how he is walking free. I think the studios should begin rethinking their terms over and cracking the whip.
Tom Seizmore what a looser and a dickweed. I should agree with the Madame Heidi Fleiss that he is a closet case. I guess it takes a sex expert like her to figure a phony like him. Still he has no right to cause her any body injury. She is still a woman.

You're right about all that. Bitch all you want. But that’s not what I’m talking about. Sizemore's a good actor. Steve McQueen beat his wife. Good actor. Alec Baldwin beat his wife. Good actor. Clint Eastwood beat his wife. Good actor. The list is regrettably long. None of these child/men will be in Family Circle Magazine any time soon. Hopefully, they are all in therapy. I'm not saying Sizemore is a good person--he's clearly troubled. I'm saying he is a good actor. When you get hired by Steven Spielberg, you’re a good actor. So, get back up on your soapbox, but that’s not what I was talking about.

I was not commenting on your comment. I was simply making my statement as ususal about those who we put on a pedastle. I have a feeling that since they are Clint and Steve and Alec then it is almost okay to beat up women and be in therapy. I do not give any escuses to anyone beating anyone. My biggest rage is with the fact that this man is getting offers other actors would die for and what he is doing is wasting his life and his talent on drugs. He should be in jail no matter how good of an actor he is to shape up his life. I do not beleive in the star treatment in any possible way. So yes I will get back on my soapbox and continue voicing my opinion as long as Cinematical allows me to have a voice.
THANK YOU CINEMATICAL for giving me the chance to have foes becuase that way I know for a fact that I have friends.

You have no sense of perspective about this. We're not supposed to watch a film with Sizemore in it because of problems in his personal life? That’s absurd. Obviously, there is a universal cry about the horrors of spousal abuse, with reasonable human beings sharing a desire to abolish it. Fine, that’s the truthful banner you’re waving. But, you are also denying another truth--that Sizemore is a good actor. Why are you equating the man’s person difficulties and his performance onscreen with such determination? They are not mutually exclusive. Look, there are thousands of flawed, yet skilled individuals who perform brilliantly every day in all walks of life. So I shouldn’t have watched Michael Jordan play basketball because he regularly cheated on his wife? It doesn’t invalidate his talent on the court. Yeah, Tom Sizemore has huge problems. He’s a bastard. Won’t argue that. Will that stop me from watching SAVING PRIVATE RYAN? Of course not. That’s really ludicrous. If we removed every flawed individual from our lives there'd be no one left. And if you think Heidi Fleiss is an angel, you're kidding yourself. Start with drug dealer.

I finally am dealing with a smart person who knows how to carry a little argument without being too egotistical and arrogant. I admire your spirit and the way you can differenciate between an actor and his personal life. I cannot. I am not as gracious and intelligent as you are. If a person like Seizmore is not up to spped in being a descent humanbeing then I pass a judgement on him. Sorry for being so jaded and so hard on others. I wish I have you ability.
Further more Hiedi Fleiss as I mentioned is a Madame. To me a Madame is a woman who sells sex and drugs and could involved in so many illegal matters that are even worse than doing drugs. What do you think attracted Tom to Heidi? Her looks? I do not think so. There are beautiful women out there who would put her to shame. Sex and Drugs is what attracted him.
I would never consider Heidi an angel unless her name was Lucifer.
Thanks for your comments. I would love to continue the debate with you on other issues as well.

You make some generalised, misinformed comments about Thailand -- that every foreigner who works there must be a drunk and a drug abuser. This is not true. Plenty of foreigners come to work in Thailand and experience the country's more serene, spiritual side and are able to do so without resorting to the use of drugs or alcohol. If Tom Sizemore really wanted to stop using drugs and alcohol, he could, even in Thailand, where there is an excellent support network for people with drinking and drug problems and want to stop.
