Indiana Jones and the Opal of the Mer-Man Prince?
Filed under: Action, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Paramount, RumorMonger
As we reported last week, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg both approved the script for Indiana Jones 4 and were waiting on Harrison Ford's approval. Well, a scooper for AICN was at a big hollywood fundraiser to raise money for the DNC and ran into Harrison Ford. Being a huge Indiana Jones fan, he asked him about the new Indiana Jones 4 script. Ford told him that he was in the process of reading it. The star also revealed the working title: Indiana Jones and the Opal of the Mer-Man Prince. Now if this rumor was posted anywhere else I wouldn't have given it the time of day, nevermind passed it along to you. But AICN has been on the mark 99% of the time. I just hope this time they've been duped because I hate the title. What do you guys think?

Dear lord, that is the worst title in the history of working titles. It sounds like a gay porn title. Indiana Jones and the dildo of Mary Magdalene is a better title. At least it's only a working title. There is no way Spielberg would be stupid enough to release it with that title.

Actually AICN is not right 99% of the time. Many of their stories are proven false. Dig back through the archives and you'll find that Harry and Moriarty correct themselves later when they found out some of the reports are nothing more than rumors.
Despite Lucas' love for serial-like titles, I doubt that '..and the Mer-Man Prince' is the actual title. It could be an temp title to fool snoops, or perhaps more likely, a joke Harrison Ford is playing on the event attendee. Harrison is known to have a sense of humor with the media.

Atlantis? Maybe? Either way Orlando Bloom as the Prince or Ian Somerhalder(Boone:Lost).

In retrospect what I should have said is that AICN has been on a roll recently. They broke the X-men news before anyone else, and in the last few months haven't had any noteable messups. They go with the scooper system which while allows for a lot of breaking news no one else has, but also allows a couple false stories to fall through the cracks. But as of recently they've been on target with everything.

Doubt they'll stay with that title.
A better title might be: Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Art. Something about seeing 50+ Harrison Ford squashbuckling as Indy seems very wrong and very unartistic, but then Sean Connery has had a prosperous career after Bond (and he was good in Indy 3).
Wonder if Connery will be back in Indy 4?

Indiana Jones and the french lieutenant's man would probably work better as a title considering that Harrison Ford was never in a movie with Merryl Streep. The story would be about finding the french lieutenant who happens to be the lost illegitimate great grandson of Napoleon Bonaparte from one of his many femmes de chambres.

Almost as bad as "The Phantom Menace"... but thankfully I think Spielberg has better sense than that

I have it on good athority that this ISN’T the title of the flick.
If you can't tell that Harrison Ford was pulling your leg you'll beleive anything.
If anyone here is creative enough, the can make up some utterly insane nonsense and back it up with some well known facts… send a make believe story to “Ain’t It Cool” news where Harry Knuckles will print ANYTHING just to have something to do in the morning.
Then other fansites will pick it and post it as if it’s REAL, then other “Legitimate” news pages will repost that crap on the “Entertainment” page and all the sudden, something stupid is validated.
Aaron Gantt at The Indy Experience had the right idea, post the news and give it the right perspective…
Either Mr. Ford was pulling a prank on a Fan-Boy and said the most ridiculous thing he could come up with after having a few drinks.
OR… some prankster made the whole thing up for fun.
Word is that Lucas and Company will make an annoucement Thursday… call it spin control or what ever you like.
