Sixteen Candles Sequel in the Works?
Filed under: Classics, Comedy, Romance, Casting, Deals, RumorMonger, Celebrities and Controversy
In the wake of this weekend's Breakfast Club semi-reunion, Molly Ringwald says she's ready to do a sequel to Sixteen Candles. There were rumors of this a couple of years ago, but nothing ever materialized. "I've turned it down for years," she says. "I couldn't see how it would work. Now, it seems right." Ringwald is now 37 and has worked sporadically since her mid-80s, John Hughes-heyday. You should really try to get your hands on Jean-Luc Godard's King Lear (which is not a straight adaptation by any means), in which she plays Cordelia, and Peter Sellars plays a descendent of Shakespeare, and Woody Allen and Norman Mailer more or less play themselves.

Hmm, only look warm interest in a 16 Candles sequel but hey, if Legally Blonde can get a sequel, then why not a much better flick in 16 Candles?

As long as they don't call it Seventeen Candles, I'll be there.

The Peter Sellars in Godard's King Lear is not the English actor. The movie is amazingly awful, though.
