Using the internet to seduce Natalie Portman
Filed under: Celebrities and Controversy
You see a girl and you like the looks of her. You find out a bit about her - like you, she's Jewish, she's travelled extensively, and went to school in Connecticut. You have a feeling that you and this girl would be really good together. There's only one problem...She's Natalie freakin' Portman.
Date Me, Natalie! is the work of 19-year-old Andy Goldfarb, a college sophomore with a crush and a dream. It's his internet plea for just one date with the Revenge of the Sith beauty; he insists that he's "not asking to marry her", but just wants "a chance to explore [their] compatibility, to see if we're a good match." It's also, at least in part, an experiment in meme building, and half the fun must lie in just watching the meme spread: in less than a month, Goldfarb's already been interviewed on G4 and LA's KROQ.
Could this actually work? Regardless of the whether or not Natalie takes the bait, it seems like if she even finds out about the site, that's some kind of victory in itself. People launch seductions over the internet everyday, but to my knowledge Goldfarb is the first admittedly "dorky" college student to mobilize the net in a balls-out campaign to win a date with a major celebrity. So, what do you think? Is this creepy or is it cute? Does this guy have a chance?

She already has a boyfriend. That's a lot to ask, that she would date goldfarb when she's already taken.

This kid gets my respect.
A ploy like his, while doomed to fail, will nevertheless attract a lot of attention from girls OTHER THAN Natalie Portman.
Once word spreads around campus, this little dork will get credit for being...a dreamy romantic will balls of steel.
He'll be looking at 20 offers a week.

Sean is right on. The kid has balls. He knows what he wants and he's going after it. I wish I had that conviction when I was his age. Natalie is probably too smart to encourage him but confidence is very attractive to some girls. I'd like to know how his dating life improves because of his mission. He should read "Love In The Time of Cholera" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Love takes courage, even if it is only imagined.

If he had balls he would already have a girlfriend. He would not be making a plea to a movie star that lives in a much less real world than he does.

It's an innovative method that's garnering a lot of attention from the media and I feel that was Goldfarb's main intention. Whether his persistance pays off, only time will tell. I give him a lot of credit. He's laying it all on the line for everyone to see. Even if he doesn't get his dream date, he will have made a name for himself. A win-win situation.

If he truly had confidence, he'd go meet her. Trying to seduce strangers online is just weird. It makes him look like the stereotypical basement-dwelling net geek, not a romantic. On top of which, he includes all sorts of comments acknowledging that the site makes him look like a freak, and that the whole thing is also about testing the boundaries of internet communication. He has no chance.

Natty,
I'm like Jacob, older... yet like Saul, head and shoulders taller. Are you like Ruth, young enough? Are you like Sarah? Beautiful (yes, answer that yes). Now you have to get over marrying an older man (of God).
Stroke your hair.

Of course, "Jacob", you are assuming Natalie gives a RIP about God. I read where she's more spiritual than religous. You are not likely to be able to raise a Nazirite unto the LORD with an unfaithful one. What hair? Last time I tried to grab it... it was gone... HAHAHAHAHa Shows you how much you know... Boaz!

I've seen Andy a few times on a forum, he seems like a good guy. I certainly hope she will react on it (it doesn't have to be a reaction that she want's to date him, but just a reaction that she has seen it.) This will show that there actually is a way to contact her, so what many fans and fansites can only dream about can actually come true!

I don't think it takes balls to create a website, anyone can do so...nowadays you don't even have to know html. There's no way Natalie would ever take up his request, but I'd definitely lose a lot of respect for Natalie if somehow she ever did.

So, it's a bit strange. Okay, make that really strange; but you've got to admit, the guy knows what he's doing. I agree with Sean about him getting a response from other girls. No matter what, this guy is getting known by girls and guys all over. Even if it doesn't work, he'll have had his '15 minutes of fame' (with articles and interviews included) to show for it.

Look I dont want to add a comment reason why I was atracted with a very young actress but it came slowly and unpredictable. When I saw her in the Professional I percive that she would be talented enough and the rest of the movies confirme me that I was right. When I saw Closer for the first time in my life I concluded that I was falling in love with somebody that I could not materialize my fantasy. So I hope that in future films she will continue because she deserve an Oscar because in Golden Gloves is to short to measure her talent.

I believe every word that I wrotte forgive my spelling for I am original from Cuba and I tought American History in the University of Havana. I am old enough to apreciate the tallent and I dont pretend to seduce her or nothing of that kind. I am very gladd that she respect herself and she can act like stripper but in the inside she is a princess and I hope a man has the luck to receive her love.

I don't think Goldfarb is a stalker, although I have doubts about some other people on this board. You people are falling in love with her through her movies? C'mon people. She's an actress. And a talented one at that. That means that what you're seeing on screen is even less likely to be similar to the real Natalie. Is Goldfarb ballsy? Yes. Pathetic? At least a little. Creepy? Not really. Does he have a chance? No. I agree with one of the other posts that I would lose a little respect for her if she responded with anything real. In the end, the whole thing comes off like in junior high when the dork liked the popular girl, except it's way more public and way less likely to succeed.

to be honest it's really up to her wether she agrees to it or not right? It's an original idea and i bet that some of you lot would do the same if you were clever enough to think of it! at the end of the day he has achieved what he set out to do and he must feel really good knowing that he's got through to Natalie, and she's probably touched by what he's done!!!!!!!!!!

Revenge of the Nerds!
I must have missed this post the first time around. Anyway, in a fanboy kind of way, I hope this guy does get some type of response from Padme....er, Natalie. It would show the stars are out there and paying attention to the media circus on the internet, and that they have time for 'small folk' like us. Who wouldn't go see one of her movies if she promised to send you an e-mail or something? =p
On the other hand, there are potential problems with this. If Natalie *does* respond to him, be it just a simple 'No thanks, not interested', or an agreement to meet him just once as he asks, how many other fanboys/girls would have websites (if they don't already) requesting the same thing? That'd be the last time you see any type of response. Although, perhaps if the stars gave their fans a little attention, you wouldn't have the stalkarrazi and stalkers constantly all over them. Just a thought.
Now, I'm going to go make a "Date me, Elisha Cuthbert" website.
