Murdoch makes renting easier
Good news for lazy people. If you thought Netflix made renting movies a snap, you may be interested in Rupert Murdoch's new plan to have home satellite systems equipped with DVRs which would record the movie and then allow the viewer to "rent" the movie and view it on their TV. No more driving to the video store or loading up your pack mule to pick up Netflix DVDs from your mailbox. Perhaps we could even incorporate cloning technology and create tiny "Button Slaves" to manipulate the remote for us so we don't have to expend more energy than necessary. I would name mine "Mittens" and make him wear a top hat. "Mittens!" I would say, "I desire to watch Eraserhead. Now make it so."
If Murdoch can accomplish that, then maybe I'll seriously consider his idea.

Mine would definitely be "Skippy, the Intern."

Mine would be a miniature version of the food guy from Queer Eye For The Straight Guy. Not only would he handle button slavery, but he'd also make champagne and foie gras appear at a finger snap.
I've thought about this extensively.

I really don't need dozens of ways to rent movies and I certainly wouldn't be interested in Murdoch's idea unless it was accompanied by other worthwhile gadgets. I'm happy with Blockbuster and Hollywood Video and the local library for older titles. I get hundreds of movies each week broadcast on my Direct TV system. To much of anything is never any good.

I will name mine Gizmo and get him a pink corvette. He will be trained to assassinate Rupert Murdoch for trying to take over all media and for thrusting upon me Sean Hannity and the Bill O'Reilly show. Someone has to die for that.
