Who programs Nicole Kidman's Ipod?
Who wrote the blurbs for Nicole Kidman's ITunes Celebrity Playlist - her daughter or her publicist? The intro sounds textbook publicist-bland: "My daughter and I chose these together because we always recommend music to each other ... The other songs are just a compilation of past and present favorites." Past and present favorites? What a revealing glimpse into the soul of this star! Okay, now take a look at the song-by-song breakdowns. For "Hollaback Girl" by Gwen Stefani, "Nicole" writes, "We like this song because Gwen rocks! She wears really great clothes and can dance! Her whole record is great!" No publicist would be that inept at feigning enthusiasm - and no one over the age of twelve would use that many exclamation marks. Check out a few of the other choice blurbs [iTunes required], and give us your verdict in the comments

I suppose you think that great artists like Nicole Kidman have time to fiddle around with music gizmos all day. She has an army of zeroes to handle things like that, and only someone even *lower* on the totem pole than them would have time to snark about it. (meaning you.)

Whoever actually wrote the comments, which range from inane to inappropriate, may have wanted to actually listen to the songs first. All the writer can must for "Walking On the Moon" is "...it's easy to listen to." And for "Heaven" by the Talking Heads she says, "This is a cool rock 'n' rool song that everyone should have in his or her collection." While it is certainly one of my favorite songs, I don't think that "Heaven" is exemplary for its rock-n-roll-ness. It's not exactly a foot-stomper.

Ryan, you'll note that I made no suggestion that your pretend girlfriend programmed her own iPod. I mean, that's obvious.

The reality is that whoever does that stuff for her gets paid more than anyone reading this. Everytime I make fun of the stupid ad campaigns that are thought up to try to get me to buy something that will make me like myself a little more, I remember that someone got paid a lot more than me to think that crap up. Then I cry.

Oh man, #1. You'd give celebrities shoe shinings with your tongue if you had the chance, wouldn't you?
