Chow Yun-Fat to play a pirate

According to Variety, Chow Yun-Fat will play Captain Sao Feng, a notorious pirate who will play a major role in Pirates of the Caribbean 3. The two Pirates of the Caribbean sequels are being filmed back to back, and are expected to be released in Summer 2007. And I always thought Asian pirates didn't exist. Was I wrong? Somebody? Anybody? Bueller?

He's rumored to be playing 19th Century pirate Cheung Po Tsai, a REAL LIFE Chinese pirate. It's not *entirely* West/East Pirate/Ninja!

To answer the question yes Asian pirates exist they are the largest pirate community in the world. There are more pirates no then back in the days. The second largest floats around South America, they run drugs and trap boats killing the men and raping the women, girls and toddlers.
But it sounds like a fun movie.

Plenty o' pirates over here in the spice straights of Malacca, between Malaysia and Indonesia. Also, those Filipino pirates are supposedly pretty murderous.
