Jessica Alba doesn't sleep around
Jessica Alba says that she was misquoted on her stance regarding casual sex, and wants to set the record straight. Alba told British magazine Cosmopolitan last year that she believes everybody has the right to having a meaningless fling. She claims her comments were misconstrued: "I said that women and men are the same and women should be able to do whatever they want, and if they want to sleep with somebody one day, and not have to talk to them the next, then they should be able to do that. And somehow that turned into me saying, 'I'm going out there f**king random guys.'" Alba insists that it's not easy for her to do that, and that she's happily in love with Cash Warren, who she met whilst filming Sin City. She also says in other interviews that she's very conservative when it comes to sex.

Why do celebrities think we're interested in their sex lives, or in anything they do off stage? Who cares?

Who's to say we aren't? Witness the Michael Jackson case (Johnny Depp really should have played him in the E! version).
If we aren't interested in celebrities sex lives, or their private lives, we wouldn't have huge blog posts, or newspaper posts, about say......oh I don't know....a certain actor throwing his cell phone at hotel employees, and other abuses therein. They're in the public eye - apparently we are supposed to aspire to be like them, as they're supposedly the epitomy of a capitalistic society.
If we weren't interested, there wouldn't be anything left to gossip about, besides real life. Real life sucks anyway. Apparently *someone* out there cares, since you can't escape from hearing about celebrities for just one day. And the media, knowing that celebrities are what sells, bombard the public with these stories everyday. Even my local news has turned to the dark side! Ten minutes of the show were taken up by a story covering Tom Cruise.
Celebrities make controversy. People like hearing about controversy. Controversy sells, big time. And we live in a capitalistic society.
Makeing the connection yet?
Oh, and crap! There goes my hopes of ever catching Jessica Alba at a singles bar for a one night stand. (/sarcasm).

I for one am very interested in Jessica Alba's sex life. I am not however interested in who Russel Crowe is physically assaulting this week. There really should be rules on what crap gets thrown at us as far as celebrity gossip is concerned. Russel Crowe, not interesting. Jessica Alba is a slut, very interesting. Yes, I am a hypocrite.

The correction was hardly necessary. Alba has the look of someone who awards her favors about as easily, and about as often, as the Field's Medal.
