Director Kevin Smith has released information on the Mallrats X Special edition two disc set. The first disc will include the previously released theatrical cut of the film, feature audio commentary, a View Askew "look back at Mallrats" documentary, Theatrical trailer and "Build Me Up Buttercup" music video. New to the discs will be a re-cut version of the film, an introduction by Smith and producer Scott Moiser, video of the Mallrats cast reunion question and answer session, original unreleased on set cast interviews, a brief Q&A with director Kevin Smith, a blooper reel, as well as an all new documentary entitled, The Erection of an Epic - The making of Mallrats.

The set will also also include three new Easter Eggs. Due to space constraints, they had to remove the optional commentary video track which was included in the previous version of the DVD. They were also unable to record a new commentary for the new cut of the film.
