Saw II Sees Ads Yanked
Filed under: Lionsgate Films, Movie Marketing
The MPAA have deemed advertisements promoting the upcoming release of Saw II to be, well, "unacceptable" to say the least. The ads, which display "dismembered fingers" had already been distributed to various websites when the announcement was made. If you ask me, dismembered anything is not what I want to see plastered across a bus when walking to work in the morning. A friend of mine found it interesting that, while waiting in an airport, he was surrounded by ads for the film Red Eye. It's a great marketing campaign, but do I really want to think "Wes Craven at 30,000 feet" before boarding? Makes you wonder where they would've placed these Saw II posters -- an emergency room perhaps?

What a shame... that ad is perfect for the movie! But I can understand why the general public might not be too thrilled with it. Maybe it'll make a good DVD cover for the fans...

As one of the lucky ones who saw said ad, I just want to warn you my brain will soon be sold on Ebay, and the part of it that registered it was a Saw II ad, n' shit, will be taken out, and the little remembered episode blown up on the big screen. are you game? bidding starts at $1.
