Gorging on Blues Brothers Goodness
Filed under: Classics, Comedy, Fandom, Newsstand
Because a fresh new DVD special edition just isn't enough, the people behind The Blues Brothers
celebrated the film's 25th anniversary with a screening and Q&A in
Hollywood on Monday night. Among those in attendance were Dan Aykroyd (through the magic of technology), director John Landis, and Godfather of Soul James Brown,
all of whom answered questions prior to the screening. Because we're all
too slow, we missed the chance to be part of the event via satellite in
one of 80 Regal Theaters across the country - but we can still do the
next best thing, which is to pretend via the internets. The link below
points to several clips from the Q&A, including Landis on John Belushi and Aykroyd discussing the writing and shooting of the film.

I was at the screening in our town and it was pretty cool. John Landis is like a hyper little kid when talks, always fast. James Brown was there - super funny just because he's hard to understand. Steve "the colonel" Cropper had some good stories to tell. The lead Illinos Nazi was there, shame on me for not remembering his name. He looks almost the same! Also had some good stories, and some studio exec (former) who didn't really say much. Elwood was via satellite from CA and had some good insight as well, especially about how it all started, back with SNL and Steve Martin. The Q&A went on for about an hour, and then the goodness of the brothers was shown. I had never seen it on the big screen, so it was a nice treat.

Your welcome! No, Akroyd was the only one not there. He was home in Canada and talking via satellite. He gave us a nice intro to the whole thing by saying the "106 miles to Chicago..." line as in intro.

Thanks for the info, Adam, I've modified the post a bit. Aykroyd wasn't at the same venue as the rest of the panel?
