Casino Royale may be delayed for lack of Bond
Filed under: Action, Classics, Casting, Sony, RumorMonger
The fact that the search for an actor to take Pierce Brosnan's place as James Bond has been going on as long as it has points to more than a combination of Broccoli fussiness and Sony pettiness; it's clear that, for a tall, dark and handsome thirty-something Brit-ish actor, the allure of Bond is not what it once was. The producers won't settle for a total unknown, but why would a "known" want to tie himself down to a forty year old franchise? Why would, say, Hugh Jackman, who spends most of his time flitting between Broadway glory and comic franchise features, want to hide inside the tuxedo of an icon? According to the Independent, the situation has become so dire that Amy Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures, is spearheading a Bond-finding summit this week to pick a new 007 once and for all. This is apparently the second such summit – the first, according to the article, "ended in disarray". Producers are desperate: shooting is set to start in twelve weeks, and Casino Royale (which, incidentally, is also currently without a completed script) has already been booked to open October 19, 2006.

I'm not British, and I'm well past my thirties, but otherwise my schedule is wide open. I'll be glad to be the next James Bond for what they paid Sean Connery to do Dr. No.

This is just ridiculous...the obvious choice has already been in front of us for 20 years, MGM just doesn't have the clout anymore to handle a start of this calibre. That's right, you guessed it...........Chris Elliot. 8)

Just re-hire Pierce Brosnan. Why was he canned in the first place? I was a big fan of his in Remmington Steele. I was one of the fans that did not take a side to make him stay Mr. Steele because I would have loved him in either role.
Why don't you flush Casino Royale down the toilet,it is named after the spoof on Bond anyway. There's a good reason why there is no completed script. It wasn't suppose to happen.
Write a script to go with the two video games that have Mr. Brosnan in already"Nightfire"and "Everthing or Nothing"

Adrian Paul is 007, that is, Sean Connery reincarnated. It has always been and it will continue to be "Post Connery, Bond is a tough suit to fill." The Producers obviously do not have a keen perception for the obvious. This has been shown in the previous choices to replace Mr. Connery. The only results to date have been sub-par 007's supplemented heavily with special effects.
Besides Casino Royale, Adrian Paul would be excellent as Bond in Japan. His martial arts easily lends itself to a creative screenplay involving the use of swords and hand-to-hand combat.
Adrian Paul has worldwide appeal to men and women through his previous Highlander series.
Bring back the excitement or sell the franchise to a studio that has a keen perception for the obvious. Adrian Paul would bring back the 007 tradition to where it was in the Connery era.
More than three (3) decades have passed. It is time to bring back tradition. Adrian Paul can continue the Sean Connery 007 tradition. There is nothing wrong with continuing a great tradition especially with the billions that can be generated.

FROM..Wes Rodgers..I have read some articles and am aware of the Bond image dilemma and finding an accomodating actor for such a prestigious role..Having been in the media broadcast business for many years I have found many actors are somewhat snobbish and want to pick and choose...In reality that is not the way the movie-broadcast and acting business works...I have a long background of doing radio-tv commercials andf anchoring tv and as a corr4espondent have been involved with many intriguing matters espexcially since 911..I have produced four terrorism and Homelande Security documentaries..I have excellent on air ..on cam presence and have dealt in the REAL world with many matters and agencies that a real life James Bond would..Please feel free to check my website out...www.patriotstv.com as it has some video clips of mwe...Feel free to contact 719-661-1728..Lazenby was somewhat of an unknow but his movie turned out well ..It just needed a better marketing campaign at the time..The role requires someone who can eat that identity to perfection in much the way Sylvester SWtallone did when he did his first Rocky movie..They thought he would not be a succes..THE REST is history..You need an actor who is smooth but has the PASSION..Not another name actor who thinks he is doing you a favor for a lot of money..The public buys somewhat unknows now MORE THAN EVER..SINCERELY..WESLEY RODGERS!!
...You never know unless you chedck all angles..Got to go..Have a meeting with members of the intelligence comnmunity...Shaken..not stirreed..THANKS SO MUCH!

I "ve a shelf on 007"s collections and i keep wondering why such dillema would plague the selection of the world"s greatest spy.Basic profile have in time past been adhered too...(handsome,killer looks, well groomed british accent coupled with the 007 style,a slight familiarity variations)...i bet clive owens will in time himself as a natural bond.WE all know karl urbans doesnt have the stuff to keep the series at top gear.Hugh Jackman would have been a second best considering his role in swordfish. But we can keep waiting upon this people to give in.Nevertheless, the legacy should not be compromised.Casino Royale,by virtue of its uniqueness in telling the story of 007,will be an anchor in deciding the position of the 40year old legacy in the next decade.i will hate to see 007 thin out of relevance.

First of all, Bond character must have a chemistry. That elements are a good acting ability, good looks and charm , muslcular body. Sean Connery had it all.In the case of Timothy Dalton, he had an ability to act but he lacked other elements such as appealing looks or charm. He wasn't hansome enough. Looks is not everything but like I said the chemistry is an important factor in Bond character.
Daniel Craig or Jason Statham don't have what it take to be Bond character.
Victor Webster has the elements.
Young Sean Connery , Next Generation Bond ,
Victor Webster as new James Bond for Casino Royale
Victor Webster(English Canadian) was born in Calgary, Alberta,Canada. The son of a police officer (like Roger Moore) and a hair-stylist, Victor was interested in acting from a very early age. Participating in many school plays and theater classes helped him to realize his love of the art. Having never lost his passion for acting he chose to venture into the business world to try and carve out a life for himself. Years as a stockbroker and then owner of an import export company left him feeling unfulfilled. A chance encounter then provided him an opportunity to pursue his dream.
It was at this point that Webster was approached for an acting gig. He got that job and wound up starring on an NBC daytime series. He immediately followed that with a starring role on the Emmy® Award winning AMC Network series "THE LOT" and then the number one nationally syndicated action series "MUTANT X". With this Webster caught the attention of People Magazine and was named one of their "50 Most Eligible Bachelors". Victor then began his film career in the box office smash "Bringing Down the House" and currently has two films scheduled for release this year and three in pre-production.
As a teenager, he frequently found himself in trouble because of his misguided behavior. Martial arts proved to be the perfect outlet. He spent many years teaching and competing, achieving an undefeated record in the heavy weight Black Belt division, as well an undefeated record as an amateur kick-boxer.

George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton had good looks and acting abilities but their looks weren't chic or elegant. Roger Moore wasn't a great actor. He played reasonably ok bond character but he was successful james bond than George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton. The reasons for Roger Moore's success were because of his chic, elegant looks and a sense of humor. Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan had the same chic appearances. the Key factor is chicness in a face and an appearance. and also charm, a sense of humor. In order to be a successful actor who play james bond role, all the elements must have right chemistry in James Bond character.

Gerard Butler would make a fabulous James Bond. He's young, sexy and men and women all know him from Cradle of Life, Timeline and of course Phantom of the Opera. He will bring his own personality to the role and not be compared to Sean Connery, Roger Moore or Pierce Brosnan. I believe he'll be Bond for as long has HE wants the role.

Who can argue that there is only one James Bond? Sean Connery has and always will be James Bond. However, since he is admittedly too old for the character, Eon should swallow their pride and give Mr. Brosnan what he wants to play the part. They know he has made them buckets of money in the other four movies so what'd the big deal? They might hit on a person that the general public would accept but that isn't guaranteed. Witness George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton. They were OK but they weren't James Bond. I have loved 007 movies since they first came out and I would hate to have Casino Royale turn out to be another looser like the first one that was made so many years ago. Pierce is a proven Bond so let's just get on with the filming with him in the lead.

I read articles as far back as a year ago stating Dougray Scott had won the role. What has changed? I'd like to hear a Bond with a Scottish accent. Mr Connery played him so well. I've seen Dougray Scott's work and I'm sure he could pull off the suave and debonair. The handsome is certainly there, and as Pierce Brosman has mentioned, getting in shape is part of the role as well. As long as the script is up to par, the film can't go wrong if they cast Mr. Scott.
Fingers crossed
