I'm not sure what part of this is worse news for Bruce Campbell fans – that Ashton Kutcher is reportedly starring in the Evil Dead remake, or that the classic camp horror gem is being remade in the first place. For those worried about how the remake is going to be handled, you might take some comfort in the fact that Campbell and original Dead director Sam Raimi are both producing the remake. But how do you reconcile Ashton as Ash? Demi's boyfriend hasn't confirmed the rumor, but he has made it into the remake's IMDB profile, and that's enough to rile up the kids at JoBlo: "Personally, I'd rather not have one of my most beloved horror films ever dragged into this Hollywood machine to be remade," writes Pat Torfe. "As for Kutcher, if he indeed is in the film, there's only room for one Ashley J. Williams in my book, and that man is Bruce Campbell." What do you guys think?Ashton Kutcher to star in Evil Dead remake?

This is a complete travesty! Not only is Kutcher the wrong 'man' for the role, but the fact that they are defiling this movie with a re-make is disgusting. Do Raimi and Campbell need money that bad? Why not re-release the original Evil Dead? There are thousands of us who would snatch up new copies of the DVD, not to mention drop money to see it once again in the theaters. A sad day indeed...

I'd prefer Nicholas Brendon (of Buffy fame)to star as Ash in a remake of "Evil Dead". Hell, he could be very convincing as Ash Jr. if Raimi were persuaded to take a break from the Spidey franchise and actually shot an EvilDead4. But regardless, at least Brendon could use his identical twin brother to play Evil Ash in a remake of "Evil Dead 2" if it ever came to that.

Sad sad sad, but it'll sell well in a DVD two-pack with Highlander 2.

Do you think they'll keep the scene with the tree raping the girl? Classic...

Bruce suggested that the tree could rape _Ashton_.
I think Sean William Scott could do the job swimmingly. Picture him in The Rundown getting the crap kicked out of him, dirty bleeding and eyes agog.

This is a complete waste of time, why don't they come up with there own ideas for films instead of remaking eveything that was already done?
This film was already remade!?!!
It's called EVIL DEAD II
LEAVE IT ALONE
I will no longer be a fan of anything Bruce does if he has any hand in the making of this f-uk-ing film

Evil dead II isn't a remake. First they show a few scenes from the first movie, but when Ash is blasted through the trees it picks up exactly where ED1 ended. The produces cut Ash's friends out of the introduction to save time.

People suck!! It doesn't matter who plays the role. not only that, it's not your decision. They choose the person based on how well they audition for the part, not by the way they look, or who they are. So, in my opinion if Ashton did amazing on his audition and better than most, then he should get the part!

This is a complete rumor.
And if there is a remake, I'll buy a ticket to go to it and personally yell "BOOOOOOOO!!! BIG STINKY EFFIN' BOOO!!!"
Think about it...
Why would Bruce Campbell want to remake a movie he starred in and he made famous - with Ashton Kutcher of all people, playing his character? Why would Sam Raimi even want to remake this awesome movie?
It doesn't need a remake and Evil Dead fans around the world are gonna go effin' nuts!

It was only a matter of time before our beloved Evil Dead was re-made. I will see it just to find out how they portray the characters and original story.
Ashton was OK in Butterfly Effect...but as Ash? I don't see it.

Evil Dead 1, is pretty much the best horror film of all time. Remaking it is okay with me. Even if it sucks, you could still watch the original. I beleive in Raimi and Campbell, they wouldn't let us down. Evil Dead Forever

hey forget about Ashton with the remake. Bruce, star in a 4th movie that could somehow involve the story of the game, E.D.Regeneration. or heck I don't know, make a prequal about the professor.
