Spider-Man 3 Villains: it's Official

Thomas Haden Church, once rumored to be playing Chameleon in Spider-Man 3, will in fact play Sandman, and Topher Grace will be Venom. Since this news comes to us straight from the loose lips of Kirsten Dunst herself (who is wisely riding this money train as long as she can), I think we can put the rumor mill to bed on this one.For those of you who, like me, are sadly unfamiliar with all of Spidey's enemies, Sandman is "a career criminal whose irradiated body can turn into a sand-like substance." Sand-like, huh? I was hoping he just had, like, a really abrasive personality, or something. Damn. Venon, however, is a bit more complicated. As far as I can tell, he's (it's?) some sort of alien thing that takes over bodies. When he moves into the body of Eddie Brock, a guy who really, really hates Spiderman already, Venom makes him stronger and more pissed off, "creating a supervillain that looks like a black-and-white version of Spider-Man with a wicked smile." Well that sounds sort of awesome. Maybe it'll help me to forget the crap that was Spider-Man 2 - check back with me when it's released in Spring 2007 and I'll let you know.

I remember Raimi said he hated Venom and had no strong desire to use him in Spiderman 3. Somewhere in the pre-production phase, Marvel or Sony 'convinced' Raimi to use him. As spectacular the SPFX will be to render Venom, I feel Raimi has succumbed to the dark side of the Force (er, Hollywood). I'll go see it, but Raimi better pull off a miracle to make Venom work or snub the studio execs (and some portion of the fans) by making Venom's screen time very short.
I don't mind Sandman, but Raimi should have considered Kraven the Hunter. His role in the Spiderman mythos, especially in his last appearence, was very powerful and poingant. To base Spiderman 3 on Kraven's Last Hunt would put an interesting touch to the movie universe of Spiderman.

People please....nothing is official yet. Me must be patient about this. Sam Raimi has some kind of surprise in store for us. Wheter Venom(although he is my favorite villain) is in the movie or not, it doesn't matter. It will be just as great as the last two (however I think the first is better than the second). The only time we can say who the villains are is when the are OFFICIALLY announced a few months from now.

I didnt like the second me, it didnt really follow the comics, the spiderman movies will never make it past number 3 coz if any can remember that weneva a 4th movies is made (eg. Superman, Batman) they are just shit!
The spiderman movies will never compare to the X-Men movies as they kind of follow the comics, i only want to see Spiderman 3 because i am such a marvel FAN!

It will be nice to have Venom but i think that something should happen to Harry and make him the Hob/Green Goblin, as at the end of Number 2 he finds all the goblin shit.
The story line should go like this 4 #3:
Spidey fights sandman and loses
something happens and spidey merges with the symbiote/ Black Costume
fights sandman again and wins
costume controls him, gets rid of it with the church bell like in the cartoon/comic
Brock merges with symbiote
spidey loses in fight with Venom
sumtin happens with spidey and he figures out how 2 win
fights again and wins
if there is 2 b a 4th movie and nutin happens with harry in the 3rd then it should happen at the end so that there is a goblin in the next 1

I am just wondering if they are going to give sandman his suit. For those not old enough to remember in the 70's sandman had a suit which would work with his body's biochemistry and allow him various weapons based upon sand.
I am curious about how they plan to bring in the symbiote as well. The original secret wars line was so hokey that even marvel quickly dropped it in their revamps of the venom/spiderman story. The black suit was marvel's attempt to support a failing (in the 80's) industry by revamping older characters. They didn't realize how upset the fans would be by changing spiderman's character.
also peter got rid of the symbiote twice. The first time was with the help of reed richards and the FF. The second time was when the symbiote escaped and remerged with peter. Peter went to the tower to get rid of the symbiote. The symbiote fled found Brock.
Brock was at the church to commit suicide (Strylines differ as to why some say cancer some say because he lost his job) the two merged and went after spiderman who the symbiote revealed to Eddiek was Peter.
OK so I was and still am a major comic geek.

I am shocked that Topher Grace will be playing my all hero VENOM!! I personally don't think he would look good for the job, as eddy brock is somewhat buffed up a little, and having that symbiote on just makes him even more stronger. That is my oppion.

Ok a couple of things first spiderman 2 was excellent the first was incredible so I can see sort of a let down in the second but the story, the effects and the characters all were taken from the comic and adapted to the movie with an excellent flow. As for spiderman 3, How about this as the story it was rumored that they had thought of filmiing both spiderman 3 and 4 together, so that would allow for an extended story line, spidey saves john jameson from crashing the space shuttle and the symbiote gets attached to him, he starts using the symbiote and loves the extra power emotionally becomes a little withdrawn from MJ, then the sandman starts recking a little havoc, black spidey comes around beats him easily destroying everything in the way and almost killing sandman, realizes he cant stay with the symbiote, then gets rid of it and the whole church bell scene takes place Eddie Brock is in there to kill himself cause hes not cuttin it as a photographer and doesnt like peter cause he keeps ignoring him, meanwhile harry has taken the super serem and is goin a little crazy and destroying things spidey goes off to stop him, eddie brock and the symbiote get together and decide to kill spidey as spiderman and hobgoblin are fightin here comes venom to the party hobgoblin moves aside for a badass fight scene between venom and spidey harry realizes that spideman is good joins in to save peter only to die and venom takes off, peter is left with a dead best friend, broken relationship with MJ, and a new supervillian venom, end movie, Cue movie 4 spidey vs venom, probably what would end up being the best movie in the series.

ok heres the deal, spiderman will fight sandman and wind up loosing. hell meet the symbiote just long enough to beat sandman then get rid of it when it tries to take him over, enter eddie brock who hates parker and spiderman. spiderman beats venom and puts eddie in jail. brock meets cletus cassidy in jail and thats where the 4th movie will start with venom and carnage. should be good but the first is still the president.

Peter Parkers a nerd, Peter Parkers skinny, can't get his act together with the girls, etc. I know its (mostly) true to the comic book but c'mon I've read hundred of spidey comic books when I was a kid, was it REALLY necessary to beat the viewer over the head with how much of a dork Parker is for soooo much of the first movie?! And as for Spider-Man 2, cmon be serious just the Dr Octopus shots alone were worth the price of admission!

yeh my thoughts on my fav comic book hero as a kid is that spider man culd have been alot better....for example the first one against a green goblin (who should have been dangerous for his artillery,arsenal n all that)A Green goblin who was almost as strong as hulk i mean come on now...save the hard punch ups for the sequels..like venom for eg.NOW i dont know how they gonna pull it off n make him look like the most dangerous villain.,when for the 1st movie...they made it too much of a powerful villain for him to fight...AND WATS ALL THIS ABOUT VILLAINS HAVING PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEMS N VOICES IN THEIR HEADS TYPE OF SHIT....i know one thing for sure and thats...DOC OCK WAS A BAD ASS FROM THE Start...and his arms are not meant to be alive....i found the movies good...except for those stupid things that directors always mess up...LETS HOPE PART 3 IS BETTER

okay, so comment 49 finally has a valid complaint against S-2. Come on - in the world of comic book movies, these are pretty good. I can think of a bajillion worse ones. . . a couple of Batman, Spawn, FF, Hulk, Constantine, Punisher, Daredevil, and SO MANY MORE. So have a heart. And give Grace a chance. Venom will be CG no matter who plays him - at least Grace makes it interesting.
