The Shining: A Heartwarming Family Drama
Filed under: Classics, Horror, Fandom, FanFilms
I know you all think that The Shining is a terrifying horror movie
about a deranged Jack Nicholson, a creepy hotel, and a little boy who
lives in some kid's throat. Personally, I get so scared by the drive to
the hotel that I have to turn it off every time, but then I'm sort of a
baby. Apparently, though, not everyone sees it the way we do. Hell, if you
give it the right voice over and add some Peter Gabriel, suddenly it's
almost sweet. I sent this link to a friend this morning and this was his entire reply: "I have no ass anymore, i just laughed it off." Enjoy.

The name of the song is "Solsbury Hill" from his first album "Peter Gabriel". It's also in "Vanilla Sky" OST. Good song, by the way.

Why wasn't the film shot in *widescreen* format?

The odd coincedence here is that the person you wondered if it was (Phil Collins) and the person it really is (Peter Gabriel) both were in Genesis in the early 70's. I always felt Peter Gabriel was the one with taste (he left), while Collins moved from drumming to take over the lead-singing role Gabriel left open. Genesis then turned to pap while Peter Gabriel has since made some really interesting music. Not that I am that familiar with the art-rock pre-Collins-as-singer Genesis, but I'll take Peter Gabriel over 'Su-su-sudio' or 'Illegal Alien' any given day.
