A George Michael documentary?
Filed under: Documentary, DIY/Filmmaking, Waxing Hysterical, Movie Marketing
Personally, I'm not the biggest George Michael fan on the block, but I will admit letting loose to a few of his tunes throughout the years. Of course, I would never show off my horrific dance moves in a public place, but I will throw on an album while in the shower, if only to yell out "Freedom" so all of my neighbors know exactly what kind of freak lives across the hall.
Okay, now that I feel like an idiot, the ever resourceful folks over at Twitch found a trailer for what appears to be a documentary about George Michael with French subtitles. Whether or not our friends from across the Atlantic are responsible for this gem remains to be seen, but you have to watch it, if only to check out the mad editing skills going on. Honestly, this bad boy is all over the place and it's hilarious - to me, at least. A ton of props goes to the first person who can come back here and tell me what the hell is going on in this flaming pile of montage hell, because frankly, I haven't got a clue.

Oh it's real for sure, I just could not believe how poorly put together this trailer was. If anyone out there has actually seen this documentary, please chime in and tell me things get better.

If it's the one I'm assuming it is, it's George Michael: A Different Story which premiered at Berlin earlier this year and we showed at Tribeca in April as well. Don't think it has any American distribution yet, but not sure.

Why do we care about George Micheal again? will someone remind me please?
He had a couple of great songs, a bunch of crappy ones. Made millions of women swoon, only to find out he only liked the 6 swooning men..I mean seriously, there are 100's of artists which have led much more interesting lives that we'd care to see alot more than George Micheal...IMO, of course.

#2: Yeah, the documentary is better than the trailer.
#5: Well, leaving a double life as a superstar is kind of a dramatic premise, isn't it? Although I guess the film will mostly interest George Michael fans and gay men who can identify with the problems of being in the closet, the film gives you some insights into artistic development and the pressures of the music business. That could interest anyone, including you.

Erik--
It's totally real, do a search and you'll find some reviews (Variety, etc). Premiered at a festival, if I remember correctly (not that, you know, I got all excited the first time I saw this clip and started doing research or anything). Me, I just love hearing George say "And I think I'm a poof!"
