Fantastic Four Sequel Release Date

Wily veterans of the movie business that we are, we here at Cinematical were predicting the Fantastic Four sequel before the original had finished its first week on the big screen (and when I say “we,” I mean “Karina”). Sure enough, the FF sequel rumor mill has been active for months now, largely based on the musings of the cast. A solid piece of information seems to have recently emerged in the midst of the rumors, however. Several websites (Box Office Mojo the most prominent among them) are now reporting a release date for Fantastic Four 2- July 4, 2007. Curiously enough, this is also the projected release date for DreamWorks’ 80’s nostalgia flick The Transformers.
I’ve got to say, this news warms my little geek heart. I know FF was a mediocre flick which did little justice to “the World’s Greatest Comic Magazine,” but the Four were my first comic love. I’ve been reading The Fantastic Four since I learned to read, and it just makes me giddy to see Ben Grimm on the silver screen in all his rocky glory. My fingers are crossed for a Mole Man or Skrulls appearance in the sequel. You may mock me now, I know you want to. That’s what the comments feature is for, after all.

I had the biggest hopes for this movie - I was the only one amongst my friends...I just thought it was hard to botch up this great concept and they had a pretty cool cast - I mean Ioan looks EXACTLY like Reed Richards...and he is usually a great actor - but they gave him crap lines and he seemed to be the least exciting.
Anyways I hope they are able to either get a new director or else get a better script.
I just read the first issue of the introduction of NAMOR THE SUB MARINER in Ultimate Fantastic Four - and already that feels like the movie that should be FF2. Very epic and movie blockbuster in scope so far.

Is Ultimate FF worth the read? I somehow haven't found the time to get into the Ultimate series yet. I've heard pretty good things, though.
And I agree wholeheartedly with the new director/new script comment.
Also the Reed bit...the lines seemed to turn the character into some sort of pansy. Definately not on target. About the only thing they got right for Reed was his look.

I think the next FF movie will be better (fingers crossed) I liked the first one but hated how they handled Reed. I think Torch and everyone else was great. Just Reeds lines like the previous post stated, was weak. I think the second will be a good movie because now the characters have been introduced and established. Lets get to the butt kicking lol! Similar to X-men and X2. And Transformers oooh man. 2007 is looking to be a good year
