TCM plans Miyazaki showcase

Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki is internationally regarded as a master of animation, but precious few of his works have been widely seen in the US. Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro and the Oscar-winning Spirited Away, were
all distributed - and acclaimed - here, but the fact is that
comparatively few people actually saw them, and even fewer Americans
have heard of, let alone seen, his earlier works.Turner Classic Movies, however, hopes to expose the director to a much larger audience in January when it premieres a nine-film Miyazaki program. In addition to the three titles mentioned above, TCM will also air lesser-know Miyazaki works like Castle in the Sky, and Porco Rosso. Though it is not yet known whether the versions shown will be subtitled or dubbed, TCM is sure to show the films in their original widescreen formats, and subtitles seem likely, give the channel's track record.

re: subtitling. i'm not really a big hater of dubbing with anime these days. though there's a perpetual running argument in the aniime-viewing crowd about whether subs are better than dubs and why or why not.
maybe in the past dubs were not well done, but these days the US (through ADV, Manga Entertainment, Funimation, central park, etc.) have a stock of really very talented english speaking voice actors (e.g., monica rial, tiffany grant, chris patton, etc.) and the translations by these major US players are by and large well done (and I include disney in the bunch).
the problems for me arise when there's clear attempt by the distributors, US producers, or cable operators to delete "questionable" content from the anime . . . which leads to ridiculously horrible US versions (like the imfamous first-run of Evangeleon on toonami a few years back in which cartoon network effectively butchered the episode (see http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/columns/edit-list.php?id=123).
so, assuming tbs doesn't perform a hack job on the content, i don't have a problem with using the dubbed versions of the films.
