New Buffy Movies or: Joss Whedon is Inhuman!
Filed under: Action, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, RumorMonger, Fandom, Scripts
So we’ve all heard the rumors of Joss Whedon directing a Spike movie. However, it seems as though
this might just be the tip of a new Buffy iceberg. How Joss
finds the time to even think about
yet another project is beyond me, but apparently the man is unstoppable. Marti Noxon, executive producer
of several seasons of Buffy, says
that continued fan interest has lead Whedon to consider a series of direct-to-DVD movies based on the Buffy
universe. That’s right, friends, not just one, or even two, but a series of new movies. Apparently, past
scriptwriters from the show have been contacted regarding screenplays for
possible movies focusing around secondary characters (because let’s be honest, Sarah Michelle Gellar is not coming back for any direct to DVD movies). Noxon notes the already
rumored possibilities of movies revolving around Spike or Angel, but does not
mention which other Buffy related
characters may also feature into the possible new film series.
Is anyone out there excited by this news? I know Buffy fans are a loud and dedicated group, and Joss Whedon commands a virtual army of eager fanboys/girls...but c’mon now. Can’t we just let Buffy go gentle into that good night? Okay Buffy fans, tell me which characters the new films should feature.

I am personnally excited. I will take anything. To answer the question...okay...I am going out on a very long limb, but I would love to see a Willow and Oz reunion and love affair again. Oz was a great character...I just saw the episode where he left her...what a scene...what a scene when he returned to Sunnydale and while she was with Tara and she told him that he is the one that she pictures spending her life with but when she is finished with "this".
For another limb...I would love to see a finality to the Buffy and Angel get together. I was so disappointed that we have had years of build up and it ended with nothing.....it just doesn't seem right. Knowing that they don't hook up makes the re-runs seem less....sigh....
Otherwise.....Xander..Spike...even Dawn! I will take it. Hey! How about Giles?!!!

I think if they do a series, they should dedicate the whole lot of them to all the characters that we love: serial DVD episodes! OF course they must include James Marsters (Spike), Tony Head (Giles), Seth Green (Oz), and Emma Caufield (Anya) to make them 100% bankable! Of course, us die-hard Scooby gang-ers will watch anyhing Joss gives us!

They shouldn't limit themselves just to DVD. There's a whole new revenue stream possible thanks to the iTunes Store doing video now.
Spike's character is the most bankable, but maybe now they'll be able to do that *Ripper* movie they've been talking about for ages.

I'd also suggest that they not be held back by SMJ's refusal to do any future material. Just ignore her and give the role back to Kristy Swanson. She's better looking anyway.

ps. Anthony Stewart Head (aka "Giles") will be in an episode of next season's *Doctor Who* entitled "School Reunion".
Early word on the street was Head was going to portray the Doctor's resurrected arch-nemesis The Master, but the official word is he'll just play a character that happens to be the school's headmaster (principal). The Master - a rival Time Lord and not to be confused with the vampire character with the same name from Buffy - was last seen getting consumed by the Eye of Harmony in the 1996 *Doctor Who* telefilm, in which the character was portrayed by Eric Roberts. What is noteworthy is the fact that Head auditioned for the role of the (8th) Doctor in that production, but was passed over for Paul McGann (who was fantastic!) instead.
Full Circle, indeed. Which of course was an episode title way back in the day.

I would like to see umm, Faith, and definitely Willow, for sure Giles, and my favourite, Dawnie. Also Xander, but with both eyes.

Ha! That's funny. If you think SMJ is better looking than Swanson, then your heterosexual card should be revoked.
Women look better when they have bodies instead of sticks for bodies.

I should amend that prior comment. There must be some people in the world (as evidenced by Shell) that prefer the anorexic & flat chested look coupled with a nose only Owen Wilson could appreciate vs. an attractive woman with a figure. My bad!

Definitely Faith, since Eliza Dushku's Tru Calling was cancelled. I think Alyson Hannigan's doing great with comedy (How I Met Your Mother), so Willow's out.

BRING 'EM ON!!!!
I don't care if it's an Andrew & Lorne spin-off...anything from the BtVS/Angel-verse I will take!!!
I'm figuring SMG & DB are probably out. One can always hope, but SMG has so many big screen projects, and DB hasn't seemed as interested lately. (just my opinion)
But there are still plenty of characters to go with, and I would be happy to see any of them!
I know several people have moved on to some other shows, but actors often work on other projects while doing TV series, so I'm not counting any of them out of the realm of possibility.
OH...and for the record...I think both SMG and Kristy Swanson are very beautiful women in their own ways. ;-)
