Don Coscarelli Discusses Future Projects

Cult hit director Don Coscarelli, the man who
brought the world Beastmaster, Phantasm, and Bubba Ho-Tep is a kingpin
of culture’s geek underbelly. During a recent appearance at the NYC Horror Film
Festival, Coscarelli discussed the possibility of returning to two of these
franchises with Icons of Fright.
Sadly, recent rumors claiming a new Phantasm
movie were premature; they were based on tentative talks which have since
fallen through. As for the rumored sequel to Bubba Ho-Tep, Coscarelli stated that he would love to return to the
story, and indicated that Bruce was “rarin’ to go again.” Unfortunately, the
studio that funded Bubba Ho-Tep is no
longer in existence, so money needs to be found elsewhere if a sequel is to
ever happen.
I love Bubba Ho-Tep. I love Bruce Campbell and Don Coscarelli. Like all good Bruce fanboys, I was ecstatic to hear of the coming Bubba Nosferatu and crestfallen when it was announced that funding for the film was nonexistent. I’d love to see it picked up again by some studio, but I don’t know what the odds are of that actually happening. For now, it simply seems like an excited director is letting his fans know that while the project is still inactive (and may remain so permanently) he still cares. And I, for one, am glad to know.

If I win MegaMillions tonight, Bubba Nosferatu will have its funding. Does anybody know if Ho-Tep suffered any legal threats from Graceland? I'm still kinda surprised that its never aired on IFC or SciFi.
And one day, Bruce will play an elder Abslom Daak in Doctor Who. Ha!

Mark, I feel so loved! :)
I will always regret having wasted money on law school instead of film school for my destiny was meant to out-boll Uwe Boll.
For anyone doubting the fitness of Campbell to don the motiff of Abslom Daak - the Dalek Killer, just do a Google Image Search for the character, and then substitute the alien termites in *Alien Apocalypse* for Daleks. Even more appropriate since Daak's weapon of choice is a chain(saw)sword.
