Maybe, just maybe, we are free of Uwe Boll
Filed under: RumorMonger, Newsstand
You know how Uwe Boll is incapable of making a good movie, and yet
somehow always manages to get funding for his next project? And how
we've all been wondering how or earth he can still find suckers
willing to give him money? Well, it turns out that Uwe is the sucker -
you see, German tax law is such that people who see
fit to invest in movies receive "a hefty tax write off on funds
invested [in] failed films." So basically, Germans with knowledge of
obscure tax law have been lining up to invest in Boll's films - I mean, the
chances of them being succesful is basically nil, right? Hell, tax
consultants have probably been sending their clients to the guy! There's something very Mel Brooks about all of this, isn't there?Sadly, however, Uwe Boll's days as a human tax write-off are over: in January 2006, the Make Money By Investing In Failed Movies loophole will be closed. So, where is the guy going to get his finding now? Are you thinking what I'm thinking? FREEDOM!

What a spiteful article! It kinda sounds a bit like the author is surprised movie making is closely related to financial factors. About eighty percent of the money raised by these German funds is spent on *gasp* Hollywood productions, neglecting local producers.
Admittedly the quality of the resulting movies doesn't make for much of a debate, I think it's quite awkward, though, to take it out on the producer. After all if the US distributors didn't think they could squeeze a few bucks out for themselves these projects would never have been realized.

Uwe is a like a horse that needs to be put down, except you feel bad for the horse...
Thank goodness there will be no more of his crap making it to the screen.

I wish this were true (though, to be fair, there's a completeness to the failure of boll's films that makes them at least worth a watch, as opposed to michael bay, whose slickly produced awfulness is just boring), but I can't help but think he'll survive this, like a cockroach after a global disaster. I mean, theoretically, his ineptitude should have been enough to ward off good/respectable actors, but ben kingsley's in his most recent film, and he can't possibly be that hard up for cash.

Philipp is one of those people that lacks a sense of humor. Of course the article's spiteful; the few times I've watched a Uwe Boll flick it's like jabbing an ice pick in my eye.
I'm glad Uwe's hopefully going to be out of funding.

The only Uwe film I have seen so far is "House Of The Dead" and it's really not all that bad. If he had kept all the small annoying game clips out of film, It would have been much better :-) I liked all the sexy babes in it and the nudity!!!
Now I am looking forward to BloodRayne with the very hot and sexy Kristanna Loken. And it's confirmed that she'll be naked in the film and not only from behind.
Here's a snippet from one of our interviews:
BRM) A big question for alot of fans, how much flesh does Kristanna show in this "hot sex scene" ?
UWE) She is NAKED and not only from behind.
BRM) Do you think this will be one of your most successful movies?
UWE) Absolutly. We had a very good script, great cast and cool story. And we shot in original Transilvania.

Dear folks,
the decision that the tax loophole will be closed by 2006 is still not sure. First the new government will need to be installed, that wont happen before 22. November 2005. Until then Mr. Boll has 2 good chances: First his company seems to be the only one that actually got the intention of the law that created the loophole- a germanic movie machine with most influential decisions in german hands. Secondly he could switch from offering tax write offs to a sort of capital investment with positiv return. Impossible? Playing in the field of german closed end funds, anything between 8% and 15% could qualify for being an "interesting" investment. There is so much cash in the pockets of german investors that this might actually be true. And as his movies, are getting better funded his ability to attract high profile actors can make a difference with the box offices figures , too. As only 1,7% of moviegoers actually played the games he is packing on celluloid, chances are, the upcoming titles may actually have a positive return. In many countries outside the US he is having tremendous success concering DVD Sales and rentals. Through his closed funds, right now Uwe should have about 170 Million cash to invest in his next movies. So chances are he might end up with some good movies. I doubt that Uwe is resistent to critism, and for sure all that hatred that blows in his face via the internet sites has changed his way of directing. He now invites his partners early on to deliver input and remarks. Maybe his earlier projects were a sort of "finding" his way directing popcorn movie. He got a Ph.D in german language so he cant be utterly dumb. Lets see how it plays out.

Your delusional Kristanna Fan
Two of his films have been voted the worst all time movies ever on imdb's list.. not even Ed Wood's stuff is that bad..
I laughed after I first saw the opening credits to "Alone in the Dark" (a good video game I might add, not that the story has any thing to do with it) and figured it might be a comedy.. I couldn't imagine any one finding this scrolling mirage of information plausible..

Uwe Boll is an abomination - a grave and mortal sin against cinema, good story telling, coherent plots, and intelligence in general. Every time he makes one of his horrendous sh!+boxes of a film it's like he's personally taking a dump in the mouth of anyone who's ever made a good movie, tried to make a good movie, thought about making a good movie, watched a good movie, or wondered what a good movie was. The sooner the pestilential flow of filth that he vomits from every pore is stanched the sooner more money will be freed up to make movies that don't make the baby Jesus cry. Three cheers for the German government! Hip hip! Hooray! Hip hip! Hooray! Hip hip! Shut up and die Uwe!
