This piece at HowStuffWorks.com will be of particular interest to all the Star Wars geeks virgins aficionados out there: how, exactly, does that Death Star work, what is the technology behind it, and what are the ramifications of building such a weapon?
The article is divided into various chapters, including:
- Death Star Basics ("With so much global unrest, governments worldwide are struggling to devise new methods to maintain order. The Galactic Empire's solution is The Death Star.")
- Life on the Death Star ("The general sector of each zone in the Death Star has a park, shopping centers and recreation areas that include restaurants, a cinema and fitness centers.")
- So What Happens If You Blow Up A Planet? ("Besides the obvious issues associated with destroying an entire planet...")
And if you're wondering how other Star Wars things work, check out what you can do with a light saber!

I was a little disappointed that the article did not explain why the Death Star gun control room looks like a 20th Century Earth based (North American at that, although it might've been shot at Pinewood Studio in fact) television studio control room.
I am just dying to know why!
And that "why" should be read with readers thinking of Nancy Kerrigan pleading the word on national television a decade + ago.
