Something feels special about today, doesn't it? Yeah, I know, you can sense that today marks something really huge, but you can't quite put your finger on it. Don't worry, you're probably not the only person who has forgotten that the flux capacaitor was invented exactly 50 years ago today. It was on this date in 1955 that Doc Brown cracked his head on the toilet and had his vision, a vision that would lead to wacky time-traveling misadventures, and the complete overhaul of a DeLorean. I think they even made some kind of movie about it twenty years ago. No, wait, they made three. If those films proved anything, it's that time travel becomes increasingly boring the more you film it. Didn't Stephen Hawking warn about that?

I'm about to leave for my honeymoon, but last night at my wedding, at exactly midnight, in order to celebrate this I had my band play earth angel followed by johnny b good. It was the ultimate in film geekdom and I loved every minute of it.

Erik Davis is now, in my opinion, one of the coolest people on the planet. My respect also extends, of course, to Mrs. Davis.
Corollary point: Back to the Future and Ferris Bueller's Day Off have made Jonny B. Good and Twist and Shout possibly the two best request songs ever.

Ummmm..... those 3 films were huge at the box office, they had big ads in the papers, the theature workers proudly wore the bttf pins, and if I remember correctly, bttf items are still sold on ebay on a regular basis proving how much of a cult classic the trilogy was, whoever wrote this article is an idiot. If you don't like scifi, or the topic of time travel why bother writing about it.
