Outkast movie and album have vanished - the hell?
Filed under: Music & Musicals, RumorMonger, Fandom, Newsstand
The Outkast movie Idlewild, most recently intended for release on HBO
in January, has suddenly been yanked from HBO's schedule with no new
date in sight. Additionally, the soundtrack album - made up entirely of
Outkast compositions - is no longer being released in December and has
in fact totally disappeared from La Face/Jive's release schedule. While Big Boi has told reporters that the album has simply been pushed back
to early 2006, the label has not confirmed the move.Man, what is going on?! I've been clinging to a small hope that this movie will be as great as its 1930s setting and that whole musical thing suggest it could be, but even I'm losing hope at this point. Maybe it really is as bad as people have been suggesting, and everyone involved is already working on damage control. Sigh. So sad.

That's actually the article I linked, DJ - notice the lack of confirmation from anyone actually in power at the label or HBO? That's what's got me worried.

Bah...Chumbawumba (sic) Part Deux.
That song was so overplayed just as Hootie & the Blowfish were a decade ago. Maybe they can appear on a Burger King commercial to revive their careers soon, or do birthday parties like the Blackeyed Peas in that funny SNL skit from a couple of months ago.
