Sony takes on 9/11

Not content to let Oliver Stone keep the audience for movies about
terror attacks entirely to himself, Sony is in the process of trying
to buy their very own 9/11 movie. The film, currently titled Reign O'er Me
(Gee, think that'll be changed?), is based on a screenplay by
writer/director Mike Binder, and comes with the rumored-involvement
(meaning they're associated with the project but haven't signed
anything) of Adam Sandler and Don Cheadle. The screenplay deals with the aftermath of the attacks rather than the events themselves, and Sandler will play a man who lost his family on 9/11. Cheadle is his former college roommate who resurfaces in his life and tries to help Sandler deal with his grief. Since the deal isn't offically done yet, don't expect this one for a while.

They should change the name to Reign of Fire. And bring in Christian Bale and Matthew McConaughey. And make it dragons instead of airplanes that bring down the towers. Okay, maybe not. But I loved that stupid film and think of it whenever I see the under-used word 'reign'.

If they need to know, the "Sphere" a damaged outdoor sculpture that was one the World Trade Center site, is located in Battery Park, at the "foot" of Broadway, with a small "eternal" flame, standing on a the top of a new tunnel for a subway being built. A memorial to those who perished or suffered from 9/11/01. I hope the film does well.
