McConaughey's the Sexiest Man Alive? Really?

How can you have a new "Sexiest Man Alive" every year, when the previous years' winners are still alive? That logic doesn't seem to bother the folks over at People Magazine, who recently named actor Matthew McConaughey this year's Sexiest Man. Matthew McConaughey?
Don't get me wrong, I find men with hot abs who play the bongos naked as attractive as the next person (and if you have to have a naked person hanging around your neighborhood, I suppose you could do a lot worse than Matthew McConaughey), but is this really who we want as the Sexiest Man Alive? At least they didn't pick Tom Cruise, but still -- I can think of at least seven men I would put ahead of McConaughey: Vince Vaughn, Jake Gyllenhaal, Clive Owen, Orlando Bloom, Johnny Depp, Colin Firth, Brad Pitt (I know, I know, his stock is down right now - but it's that jawline that does it for me). There. That took less than a minute
Who would you pick as Sexiest Man Alive? Do you agree with People? Or did they miss the mark?

Good point when previous winners and current winner were alive at the same time. But this makes me look at Matthew in a way I never have. Yeah, he's hot, I reckon. I still think Johnny Depp is the sexiest man alive (besides my husband, of course). But Depp doesn't want to be that, and I've grown weary of him trying to look ugly with the glasses, goofy facial hair, etc. If I'm still living when he gets old, I'll be curious to see if when his looks have started to fade if he will WANT people to then acknowledge his good looks. (Or if he'll be happy he's no longer the most gorgeous person alive.)I have a feeling he'll grow out of not wanting his looks acknowledged.(OK, Johnny, I already believe you're the greatest actor ever, your breathtaking looks aren't distracting me from that! Enough with trying to look ugly, please!)
And yes, thank God "People" didn't pick Tom Cruise or I would have hurled on the magazine!

He is sexy. Johnny is definetly not. As Pitt who looks like a girl (watch Troy).
Cruise is Cruise, he is his own man. That is kinda sad, but he gets on top alone, he has always been nice (ok not lately), for more than 25 years and he never complain.
Admit that.

I think Johnny Depp will always be the sexiest man - its because of the emotion he conveys with his eyes in addition to his good looks and intelligence. Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom and George Clooney are also great looking guys with personality but Matthew just doesn't have it!

Though Brad Pitt may be very good looking his personality is not, he forgets that its the fans that put him where he's at. Johnny Depp is charming in every way and will come full cirlce to be comfortable filling the role of Sexiest Man in a few years. Vaughn is kinda yesturdays news. Clive, Orlando, Matt and Collin were pretty good contenders, but didn't nail the honor. It's Tom Cruise!!! He's got all of the parts that fit. From personality to body. From the way he flaunts it but hides it. Boy, did Katie make a great choice!

Even though he seems to be trying to look ugly with the ratty looking clothes and hats and ugly facial hair and those dopey glasses, he will never succeed, You just can't hide it. Matthew McConaughey is DEFINATELY the sexiest man alive!!! It takes way more than just good looks to be sexy. Matthew is incredibly down to earth, extremely sexy, and has that southern charm that could make the devil himself smile. I can say at 20... it would be a dream come true to bring him home (oh what it would be to be Penelope...) Tom Cruise used to be it (Top Gun walking around in a towel..) but he's crazy! The man has lost his mind. A monkey would have more sense than to jump up and down on Oprah's couch. Desperate? yes. Brad is hot, I think he and Angelina combined make the sexiest couple alive and will for some time. But for now... it's Matthew all they way ladies and gentlemen. BREAK OUT THE BONGO'S!!!

Yeah I know he's been kind of skeezy with the whole break-up and everything but he's still got it.
Vince was adorable a few years back (he was so dreamy in Swingers!) but what happened? He hasn't aged well (he's only like 36), like Mel and George Clooney.
But Brad just seems to get better looking with each passing year.
