Sharon Stone drops lawsuit against plastic surgeon
Filed under: Celebrities and Controversy
In what some are saying was just a misunderstanding in the first place, Sharon Stone has dropped a lawsuit against a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon who she says implied in magazine articles that he had given her a face lift. Stone denies ever having a face lift. Dr. Renato Calabria offered to perform charity surgeries on underprivileged kids in exchange for Stone dropping the charges. Stone says the allegations hurt her reputation. The fact that her movies aren't very good probably didn't help much either. Meanwhile, I'm going to be up all night trying to figure out what exactly "charity surgery" entails.

I guess the real winners here will be those underprivileged kids who score all the free facelifts and stomach staples.

This organization - http://www.operationsmile.com/ - is an example of what "charitable surgeries" plastic surgeons can perform. While this may not be a widespread problem for underprivileged kids in this country, anytime a doctor can help a child with plastic surgery so that the child can live a more normal life would be a good thing.

There are many positive uses for plastic surgery for poor children - kids who have been hurt by fires or other accidents, for example. Kids who have hairlip scars, or other scars that didn't heal well, etc. Kids who were mauled by dogs...

This is certainly true, but the kind of plastic surgeon who would lie about Sharon Stone's facelift sounds like a kind of a sleazy character, and I doubt if many Beverly Hills surgeons specialize in anything other than the usual Hollywood tone ups. I know if I needed reconstructive surgery due to an accident, I'd go elsewhere.

NIP/TUCK seems to come up with a charitable surgery every week. There is also the "Smile" charity that fixes the smiles of children around the world.

She doesn't need plastic surgery, she needs a psychiatrist.
