Ironweed Film Club launches

The Ironweed Film Club is a new, politically-oriented DVD "distribution
program" that hopes to "create social change" through movies. Members
of the club pay about $15 every four weeks and receive a new feature film (along
with shorts) each month. To this point, none of the films on club's
slate have received theatrical distribution, but it is the hope of
Ironweed founder Adam Werbach that the club might help get these
independent films into theaters by creating word-of-mouth. With its
interest in independent films, shorts, and conveying a message to its
audience, Ironweed is reminiscent of the Spiritual Cinema Circle, albeit with a different political orientation. The first film, which will go out to members next month, is Wetback, Arturo Perez Torres' multiple-awarding winning documentary "following two Nicaraguan immigrants to the U.S."
