Special Olympics approves of The Ringer

When I first heard the general storyline for The Ringer, the Farrelly brothers-produced comedy, I found it distasteful: a guy who desperately needs cash (Johnny Knoxville) pretends to have a mental disability so he can enter and win the Special Olympics. You can see the potential for offense, especially from the guys who made Dumb and Dumber. However, representatives from the Special Olympics have viewed the film and think we should all give it a chance. They claim that The Ringer treats the disabled with respect and dignity. Several Special Olympics competitors appear in the film, which was shot in Austin. The nonprofit group worked with the filmmakers on the script before approving the project, and feel that the film is "an incredible opportunity to change attitudes." But will it change audience's attitudes about Johnny Knoxville's acting talent?

I thought Knoxville did a perfectly fine job in "Grand Theft Parsons", an odd little movie about the theft and desert cremation of Gram Parsons's corpse.

yeah i really liked this movie the first time when it was called "an episode of south park 2 years ago"....farrely brothers have been disappointing me since there's something about mary.
