Ralph Fiennes to sue NY Post?
How often do you see an actor like Ralph Fiennes pop up in a smutty headline on Page Six? Well, hardly ever – and now that Fiennes has had the honor, he's acting like tabloid journalism was a scourge recently invented. The New York Post's gossip sheet recently "reported" that the Constant Gardener star was spotted at a club with actress Gina Gershon, where the two "made out in a booth and then cuddled the rest of the night." The problem doesn't lie solely with being seen with Gershon – the piece also suggested that Fiennes had "traded in" his long-time paramour, the 61 year-ol Francesa Annis, for "a younger model." Fiennes insists that the incident never happened, and is rumored to be considering legal action against the rag. Assuming he really *wasn't* seen committing the cardinal sin of chasing girls his own age, do you think Fiennes has a case? Or is the tabloid newbie just making a lot of fuss over nothing?

I think he absolutely has a right to sue. Nobody likes smutty gossip spread around about them, even if it is free publicity. By the way Ralph is not a "tabloid newbie." Maybe this is the first(?)time he has made the NY Post but he is no stranger to the tabloids.
P.S. His girlfriend's name is Francesca Annis, not Amis.

No, he dosn't have a 'right' to sue or take legal action. He was in a public place, was seen by other people at the venue. If he wants to kiss and grope a woman other than his so called 'partner', then he should do it in a private not public place. According to someone who approached them at the gig, he was "drunkity drunk drunk drunk", so maybe he dosn't remember what he was doing. If that's the case then if he's going to get that trollied in the future maybe he should stay away from public places.

I don't think it's so much the "canoodling" bit he's objecting to as the rumour that he's left his current partner, Francesca Annis. If that's not true, he's got every right to sue.

The article didn't say he had left Ms Annis, it actually said
"Ralph Fiennes has reportedly been spotted canoodling with another woman - behind his long-term partner's back. The handsome actor, who has been with his girlfriend Francesca Annis for 10 years, was allegedly seen at a Maggie Kim rock concert getting up close and personal with actress Gina Gershon"
and, as has been already stated, if he behaves that way in a public place, then his common sense should tell him that it may well be reported on. If he wants his private life to be private then he should conduct it - in private.

If he didn't do it, he can sue. He's not stupid so I can't imagine he's considering a suit unless he can demonstrate that it IS untrue.
A newspaper - even a tabloid rag - still has a duty to ensure that what it prints are the facts and that it doesn't give column inches to some malicious saddo. The clue's in the title: "NEWSpaper".

Fishy that poster's #2 name is Smythe! Just a thought of course! Ralph Fiennes DOES conduct his life in private. Why don't they stick to people who really enjoy the attention, like Tom Cruise or someone? Blah!
A tabloid, does not print news stories, you must know this!

Who cares if he did do it...Ralph will do whatever he wants to ...when he wants to...and HE is responsible for HIS judgement...if he was busted, oh well...its his own fault...no matter how much we all think actors/actresses are entitled to their privacy, such is the world of show business, and they should have more sense then to frolic around in public if they don't want to be caught...instead of whining when they do...I mean lets conduct ourselves with a little more decency...get a room! ...and if he didn't do it, he can do what he wants...I wouldn't think it is worth the hassle...most of us don't believe half of what we read when it comes to gossip like that...and frankly, I am more concerned about my own life to focus of someone else's...YOU GO RALPH!
