Cameron Diaz in Sound of Music? Are you kidding me?

Who does Julie Andrews think would be the perfect choice to play the role of Maria if, god forbid, The Sound of Music was ever remade? A Broadway actress, you suggest? Nope. Someone known for spectacular singing - Christina Aguilera maybe? No way. Andrews thinks the perfect choice to play the cloyingly sweet Maria is...Cameron Diaz. What?!

I mean, sure, Diaz is cute and blond and dimpled, but I just cannot for the life of me envision her as Maria. So, now, even though I'm pretty sure a remake of The Sound of Music is one of the signs of the coming Apocalypse, I have to open the floodgates and ask: who (besides Diaz, please) could you picture playing the role of Maria? And who best to play the role of Captain Von Trapp (played by Christopher Plummer the first time around)?

I think that Kristin Chenoweth should be Maria and Hugh Laurie the Captain.
