Bruce Willis and Iraq, the movie
Filed under: Action, Drama, Celebrities and Controversy, Newsstand, Politics
Not only is Bruce Willis going to smoke the evil out of Iraq (or at least finance said smoking), but, as he hinted a couple of weeks ago, he's also going to make a movie about how much ass we're kicking over there. You go, Bruce. The movie will be based on the heroics of a battalion called Deuce Four, which has reportedly seen a lot of combat during the conflict, particularly around Mosul. Right now, the untitled project is only in the "talks" stage, so don't expect to see it any time soon. When it comes out, though rest assured that "U.S. soldiers will be portrayed as courageous and honorable, and their cause as noble." I don't know about anyone else, but I feel better just knowing that Bruce is out there, protecting my honor.

It's about time someone in liberal and clueless Hollywood supports the troops and their efforts. Most people seem too ignorant to realize the negative effects on the troops of their attitudes towards the war...

Good to know that the American male is still alive and well somewhere. It's the same thing that John Wayne did with The Green Berets.
That's still one of my favorite war movies of all time, so bring it on Bruce and give`'em hell.

If you're really interested in the unit and what they've done check out this site and under articles, click on "Punishers Ball". Bruce was there for this return from deployment party for the returning unit.

If you're really interested in what the war is all about, you'll read some other dispactches of Michaels -- you won't read this info in the Post or the NY Times.
Later,

The same being said for "our troops" could be said about Iraqi freedom fighters, North Korean troops, Nazi Germany troops, fascist Japanese troops etc. The only way to stop troop tragedy is to stop the criminals at the top of the war-profiteering food chain, such as Bush and Cheney, from sending our troops into harms way.
If Bruce Willis put his money, or anything else except his foot, in his mouth, and really cared about our troops he would enlist to help our troops or do a movie about all the maimed and suffering troops in our military hospitals. Bruce Willis is a cowardly, suck him up, headline hunter.

Those who would morally equate the conduct and mission of US troups with those of Nazi Germany, et seq., are utterly out-of-touch with what morality is. It is not a circular scale proceeding from evil to good and, depending on how far you proceed, returning to evil. It is to be bereft of moral precept to think it is.
Here's to the triumph of good over evil. Go Bruce.

To those of you that are mad that someone is making a Pro-Iraq War movie...
Why is it ok for everyone to making anti-Iraq war movies right now, and not for someone to make a prop Iraq war movie right now. In my eyes this just balances things out. Both sides are doing heavy propaganda in hollywood right now. Before you criticize the one side, realize that the other side is and has been doing it as well.

Thomas Green should be made to live in North Korea so that maybe he would learn to better appreciate his liberties in the states and what people are fighting for in other places all over the world.

It is good to support your troops in time of war,but it is better to know why the war is being fought, how it is being fought, and how long the war should last , or if it should be fought at all. It's not only noble to question authority in a democracy, but it is absolutely necessary in order for the democracy to even exist. if everyone abdicates their choice along with their conscience whenever a war is started , right or wrong, then you have no democracy, and the troops will be fighting for nothing.
I have two friends from serving in Iraq right now, getting shot at. I feel I owe it to them, along with myself, to know the truth about the false claims that started the war , and to work towards serving justice to those that would dare to extract some kind profit from it, whether it be Democrat or Republican.
I'm not afraid of the truth.
The truth is long overdue, and largely the American public is still not getting it. Distracting fights between "liberal and "conservative" forces in the media are still avoiding the inevitable finale to this period in our history.
Obvious lies about "weapons of mass destruction" and barbaric human rights were perpetrated by groups and individuals within our executive government, intelligence, and military. The decision of true accountability for those who committed these acts will have to be decided by the American people and its legislative branch. Any lack of accountability in this matter will result in the gradual, but unavoidable loss of credibility that the U.S. is already being to experience.
This loss of credibility will become as much of a threat to our national security and economy, as much as the threat of terrorism. Those of us who hide behind slogans of "patriotism" and "fair and balanced journalism" are literally running away from the truth that the rest of America, left and right, has already woken up to.
John McCain gets it, Jack Murtha gets it, and 11 million other people that protested in the streets in 2003 got it a long time ago. Why don't you?

I support the troops most people do. But when 80% of Iraqis want us out of their country, we just sound stupid if we support the mission. I can't belive that there are people who actually support this war!!. Don't you people get it? Nobody want us there. We are spending billions of doolars monthly. getting our troops killed and maimed and getting hundfreds of Irais killed every week and we think we are doing a good job. Open your eyes people and wake up.

Bruce-I am the mother of a son in Iraq./Bless you if you tell a soldiers story. The mass media just doesn't get it. Their hatred for our president puts our troops in jeporady. No one seems to want to go the troops and tell the story as they feel it- see it- and are dying for it. Thank you

Blah Blah Blah, this war is not about democracy, its about profit for Haliburton! People need to realize that U.S. Troops in Iraq does not in the slightest way spread democracy, all the people in the Middle East see it as occupation. How many times does the western world have to place a stooge goverment there to realize it will not work!! The U.K. and the U.S. have been trying at it for 80 years. Since when is the media liberal, there is more right wing propaganda in the media than ever before! The thing that ticks me off about Bruce, is that he will make profit of peoples lives placed in danger by a president that was hell bent on getting Saddam, while the guilty party (Laden) got away. I hope carpet bombing 23,000 innocent Iraqis helps Bush sleep at night. He ought to share a cell with Saddam, his no better than him, his a war criminal just the same!!!!
