Halo has a director?

According to IESB, word is beginning to leak out of the King Kong press junket in New York that Peter Jackson is in strong negotiations to have Guillermo Del Toro direct the video game adaptation of Halo. Del Toro, who also helmed Hellboy and Blade 2, has most recently been in pre-production with Hellboy 2, in which the 1st draft of a script was just turned in to the studio.
If he is to direct then will that mean he'll be off the Hellboy sequel? Seeing as Halo is apparently moving full steam ahead, they'll be no way for him to do both films, unless one of them (Hint: Not Halo) gets seriously delayed. I actually enjoyed Hellboy quite a bit and thought the visuals were outstanding, but then again, I'm by no means a Halo fanatic. In saying that, I'm calling on all Halo fans to put down the controller for five minutes (seriously, it's okay) and come tell us what you think of Del Toro taking on the project.

Del Toro is a fine director, and whilst I am not a Hellboy fanatic, I do really like it. I can't see how a Halo film could be any good, though. The game is a lot of fun to play, but it really isn't much for character. The plot is fairly standard video game fair, and the alien beings are a bit uninspired. The main character is named Master Seargent, for goodness' sake. Have your crayons in hand and colour me skeptical.

If I wasn't in such a hurry to see Hellboy 2, I'd be thrilled. I'd love to see his take on both films, but I'd put Halo at a lower priority, personally. Although, Peter Jackson and Guillermo del Toro would make a good creative team. Weta Workshop created most of the weapons and many of the props for Hellboy, so I'm sure they've had a chance to talk before...

I hope he does Hellboy 2 and is not rushed. If he gets rushed it will end up being crap - see X Men 3 for results of rushed films, you just wait naysayers.

That would be "Master Chief" #2, and after seeing all the hard work Bungie put into this film I honestly have no doubts that it will be awesome to some degree. They got their own writer, and have one of the best creative minds today as the exec producer, Del Toro will only make this thing a lock. Latino Review had a script review recently, and they seemed to dig it.
Blade 2 is perhaps my favorite popcorn flick to date, and he did an exceptional though underappreciated job with Hellboy. Aside from having Jackson do this himself, this is a pretty fitting choice for the franchise.

All I have to say is I hope they don't put some sluggish, big-name actor in as the voice of MC and of course the Sgt. Johnson - maybe even for cortana we could keep her voice too - but those characters are forever immortalized sounding that certain way - as for everyone else, let's change it up a bit - how about script? Any thoughts yet? Will the story line take a form of a Halo 3? Or will it show us what we already know?
