Robbie Williams reportedly wanted for Bond song
Will pop star Robbie Williams join the ranks of Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones as the crooner of a James Bond theme song? Ireland Online is reporting that Williams has been approached about singing the song, written by Tony Christie and described as a "typical" Bond style theme song with a prominent bassline.
What, they didn't consider Ashlee Simpson? Seriously -- who would you pick to sing the Bond theme song? Personally, I was holding out for the Asian Backstreet Boys, also known as the Back Dormitory Boys, to land a sweet Bond deal to top off their Motorola swag, but hey, I'm willing to stay open-minded.

Wow. Robbie just might do it. After all, his video for Millennium spoofed Bond, but paid homage to it.

There's a very sad story about Robbie's efforts to get onto the Ocean's 11 soundtrack. Well you can see how well that worked out. Then again, joining the ranks of A-Ha and Duran Duran would kinda be appropos.

Oh man... did you guys read about him suing all those tabloids too? http://www.celluloidandvinyl.com/2005/12/08/robbie-williams-sues-the-truth/ that's an amusing article. Don't know if I agree with it, though. This Robbie guy is everywhere and I've never heard his stuff.

If you've heard 'Time Out From The World' by Goldfrapp from their last album, you'd have to conclude they were a shoo-in for the next Bond film theme. Besides a female vocalist is just more appropriate, don't you think? They get my vote.

Seems kinda diappointing, no? They try to revamp the whole Bond franchise and they keep M, soften it up, get rid of the cigarettes and approach Robbie Williams. Seems like they just made Pierce Brosnan blonde and reduced the gadgets. Woop-de-doo.

Uhm, newsflash Eon. Nobody cares about Robbie Williams on this side of the Atlantic. Terrible screenplay, terrible casting decisions, and now possibly a terrible soundtrack selection. Me thinks they'd have a better chance at getting Billie Piper cut the tune...at least she's hot and will eventually become a name here in the States once *Doctor Who* gets some mainstream press and televising. Robbie Williams is like a Kenny Loggins album no one's ever gonna hear (apologies to the Bloodhound Gang).
And El Rond, say what you will, but Duran Duran's *A View to a Kill* is considered by most to be the best James Bond theme song, even if it was tied to one of the worst Moore flicks (I don't think its bad, but many do).

I like a few of Robbie's songs. Millennium, Angels and Rock DJ.
And please, Kim, don't ever suggest Ashlee Simson ever again. For anything. At all. Ever.
