You can run, but you can't hide from the Highlanders
Filed under: Action, Drama, Remakes and Sequels
Back in July, we reported that Highlander the next (How many
is that, 14?) was officially going to happen - and now, reports indicate that filming wrapped earlier this month. Holy
crap those Highlanders work fast! The movie, titled Highlander: The Source, was directed by one Brett Leonard, whose previous work resulted in two of the worst movies
I've ever seen: Virtuosity and The Lawnmower Man. Sounds great, huh? According to the IMDb,
The Source - which appears to be the first installment in a new trilogy - finds Duncan and his buddies living
during a grim time (that's a surprise). Things suck, they're bored, and the TV is on the fritz, so to pass the time
"this small group sets out on a quest to find the origin of the first Immortal and The Source of their
immortality." Nice. The film is due out some time next year. If you want even more details in the meantime, star and Highlander-until-he-dies Adrian Paul kept a diary of the shoot, and the Official International Highlander Fan Club (have mercy) has a gallery of photos for your viewing pleasure.

Nice job. Condemn a movie before you've seen it. Granted the franchise has seen bad days, but this movie is based on the t.v. series universe and has major roles for all three leading actors from that series. It is the movie fans have been waiting for for years. Why not give it a chance?

"Sounds great, huh?" I'm sure that's what people think when they read one of your posts. And I'm sure they say it with just as much sarcasm as you did. True, Highlander is a second rate movie franchise subject to much ridicule. You should feel right at home.

James Bond movie number, um 207 will begin filming soon and I suppose he'll be sipping poncy cocktails, wearing a penguin suit and getting away from baddies in the nick of time just after they explain the intracisies of how they are going to do him in.
You can make any franchise sound crap if you really feel the need to.
The new Highlander film is, if you like, a new beginning for the franchise.
A lot of people who have a genuine love for the franchise have worked on this film, including Mr Paul himself (as exec producer).
As a result, I think this will produce the best Highlander film since the original.
Moreover, since there will be limited references to Scotland itself, the film will more likely stand on its own as such, a singular movie rather than a continuation of a franchise scoffed at by wannabe-critics that cannot actually provide a genuine synopsis of a forthcoming films.

I happen to be one of those on the Official Highlander Boards and I'm awed at how much you seem to know about a film that recently wrapped, hasn't been edited, nor been out on the market. I guess you passed Psych 101 with flying colors. So, since you know so much more about it than the rest of us, including people who are actually involved in the film, please, come over and join us to enlighten us because we're all wondering who the Guardian is and what the Source really is.
My suggestion is before you bad mouth something, you should at least have the correct information and not simply your opinion. You don't like Highlander, fine, that's you. But, don't be nasty to those of us that do like it. It's a lot better having a fresh idea for a movie than rehashes of remakes, can we say King Kong, Cheaper by the Dozen, Fun with Dick and Jane.
And, Hudson Hawk? OH, PLEASE!!!

You need a dose of mercy yourself! It's doubtful you'll get it from anyone who reads your posts.

What kind of critic are you to knock down a film before it's even released? Not only are you making yourself look stupid by cutting down a film before you have even seen it, but your insulting the fans of this franchise and all the people who have worked hard to make this film. Wouldn't it make sense to actually see the film before you pass judgement? But then again I'm sure Highlander dosen't have as a big of a fan base as Hudson Hawk has! I guess that's why there have been so many people demanding a sequal to that piece of trash!

How professional of you, to slam a movie before you or anyone else for that matter has had a chance to see it.
Please enlighten us with more of your ability to see into the future and share more reviews of films that haven't been relesed.

Martha my dear I reckon the closest you've been to a Highlander is when you sat in the passenger seat of a Toyota. I'm sure I saw you the other day placing a sign "Spiritulist Meeting" just incase no one knew.
Are you sure your real names not "Fraser" or perhaps that's to cryptic!
As for your little article, well I'm sure I don't have to write anything because you all ready know what I'm thinking!!

I'm not a Highlander fan, although I did enjoy the first movie, and casually watched some of the TV series. I do agree with the comments above in regards to presenting this article. To qualify as a critic, a number of steps need to taken: Firstly watching the movie, secondly watching with no preconceptions (this includes previous material), thirdly and most importantly, avoidance of any emotional reference (sarcasm). Keep your comments neutral in tone and specific to the content of that movie, and if the movie has missed its mark, then your article will speak for itself. Thanks for the links, I have persued them, and I have found their content interesting. Looks like I will be checking this one out, when it is realeased next year.
