Back to the Future 4?!
Filed under: Classics, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Comic/Superhero/Geek, Remakes and Sequels
Wow - talk about news I never, ever
expected to hear: Michael J. Fox is currently in talks to star in a
fourth Back
to the Future. Refreshingly, the actor has said he's no longer interested in playing a time-traveling dork.
Instead, he wants to play the crazy scientist role - that's right, Marty McFly has grown up and turned into Doc, the
sequel. And it's not negotiable; the only only circumstance under which Fox would do the movie is if he gets to be the
on-screen mentor to "a younger cast."As Fox put it, "I'm 44-years-old now and I'm not interested in
running around on skateboards!" Well, thank goodness for that. I know the third one was awful and everything, but this series was so central to the movie-going youth of a certain (OK, my) generation, that I actually think another installment would be welcomed with open arms. Or I could be totally wrong - what do you guys think? Might it be better to just leave it alone and not risk damaging the series further?

I'd like to see what the writers come up with. I'd also like to see them get Robert Zemeckis, Bob Gale, Christopher Lloyd, maybe Mary Steenburgen and Lea Thompson all back together. That would rock my socks off for sure.
Lord knows the latter three of the group aren't doing anything incredibly important anyway.

This seems tgo have been debunked before it was even posted, here:

AND calling the third film awful, seems just about the excuse I needed to unsubscribe from this site's feed.
Thanks!

I love all three Back to the Future movies, but please, don't make any more. Just leave it as is.

I sort of agree with you, I was not as satisfied with the third as I was with the first two. I'm a bit weary of a forth being any better than the first two, and having a new cast with Fox as a mentor, I think, wouldn't work out too well... but I can visualize it... and if they do it with all respect to Back to the Future, then it might be amazing.

Have we already forgotten the lessons of the Star Wars prequel trilogy?
I am not particularly a fan one way or the other of BTTF, but lest we witness Marty McFly discovering he came from midiclorians, maybe this movie ought not be made.

Oh come on; the third one wasn't anywhere _near_ up to par!

I sincerely hope they never make a 4th! Reason? The first two Back to the Futures were made at a time when Hollywood made action/comedy/adventure movies that looked like they were as fun to make as they were/still are to watch. The innocence has - with few exceptions - been lost forever, making the chances of an addition to the franchise being anything but forced and annoyingly self-referential virtually nil!

All three were great. Dont know what you guys are talking about. The fourth one would be good, only if Dr. Brown was as important charactor as Marty. Christopher Loyd and Michael J. Fox make these movies, without the both of them they wouldnt be worth watching.
