Alias Lives on in Movies?
Filed under: Action, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Casting, RumorMonger, Fandom
Many fans were devastated by the news that primetime spy-thriller favorite Alias will be ending its run this spring. The surreal/sci-fi
nature of the series allowed it to control a strong audience among the coveted geek crowd, but apparently that was not
enough. However, the strength of the fanbase is not underestimated by Jeff Pinkner, executive producer of Alias. He recently
suggested that the Alias universe has a strong chance of living on; through a spinoff series (most likely
focusing around some of the show's villians) or possibly even a big screen debut starring Jennifer Garner.
I don't tend to watch much television, and thus am not particularly familiar with Alias. I am aware, however, that many people whose opinions I generally trust on such matters are rather enamoured with the show. There have got to be some fans out there in our reader audience- convince me that this is a good idea, readers. While you're at it, convince me that I should go rent a season or two of the show and see what all the fuss is about.

Alias is a slick, stylistic, pumped up spy vs spy thriller, that for unknown reasons, was totally underrated and never got the ratings that it deserved. But that did not deter me from being a faithful watcher of the show for the past 5 seasons. The show being too intense at times, kind of makes it too much to digest, as a ton of stuff get crammed in 40 minutes. But the bottom line, if you like this kind of stuff, I'm sure that you will love Alias.

As for the spin off and movies, I'm sure its a fine idea, as long as they can match those up to the level of the original series. Would hate for it to end up like J@3y.:)

IF you're going to rent any seasons, rent #s 1 and 2. The first two seasons are some of the best television in quite some time. It's taught, slick, and addicting as hell. It's not uncommon (amongst myself, my friends, or my parents) to go through 10-12 episodes at a stretch. Make sure you have time and no pressing appointments.

A Fan of the show "alias" for the last five years, never miss an episode. Feels it's time for a Big Screen Version definitely starring Jennifer Garner, this was her show. I have very skeptical views on a spin-off,but if you have never seen an episode your missing out on a lot. This show has Action,Exposive,Kick-Ass,Phenomenal Gadgets, Outrageous Outfits,Conspiracies, and trips around the world and that's all before the first commerical break.

They could easily build a spin-off around the villain/sometimes ally Sark (who is probably who they're considering)...he intersects with the main characters a LOT, but you always get the sense that he's got tons of other things he's working on, other jobs he's doing, etc., that don't involve the Alias crew. I was joking just the other day that they should make a spin-off based on Sydney's parents...I'd totally watch that one, too. The show isn't deep and profound, but it's more all-around fun to watch than most any other show (don't expect it to make sense, though). Like someone else said, check out the first two seasons. If you like them, watch S4-5, which are good, but not good like the first two were. S3 basically tanked, except for one or two good concepts that they proceeded to mishandle.

This is an excellent show - most of the time the writing is believable and what is unbelievable, they make it possible somehow! I was devestated that it will end, it's the only show I HAVE to be there to watch. The characters are rich - I think that Jennifer does bind the show together though...a show wouldn't be as exciting without her.
But a movie....I'm already standing in line to see it.

omg a movie would be excellent! i do believe that you should definately watch season 1 and then continue on with the others. Since i began watching this show on season 3 i think that it was pretty well done but many think otherwise. (i think its because the lack of vaughn and syd interaction *wink wink*) anyway a spin-off would be okay (especially with sark) but i would miss jen too much to really get into it. (i would still watch every episode!)

I think a movie would be fun, especially if Jennifer is in it, BUT I hope Michael would be in it as well, otherwise, I don't know if I would be as excited to see it. An Alias movie without Vaughn would be like watching a Star Wars movie (4, 5, and 6) without Luke Skywalker.
