Cruise, irritating? Naw, he's the biggest star ever!

Sure, some negative, evil people might find Tom
Cruise just the slightest bit irritating, particularly when he does
things like, in the immortal words of England's The Guardian, "Bouncing around on Oprah's sofa like a
hormonal adolescent." But the REAL fans know that he's just an irrepressible genius who keeps it real, and that's
why, in an online poll of about 10,000 participants conducted by Empire magazine, Cruise was voted the
"biggest star of all time." In taking the top spot, he beat out such minor figures as Robert
De Niro (#2), and Marilyn
Monroe (#5), among others. Yeah! Take that, all you Tom haters.

Tom Cruise the biggest star of all time? Yes. and Yes. and YES! Note, he wasn't voted the best ACTOR of all time. He was voted the biggest STAR of all time. Still, I think he is so underrated as an actor. Remember his performances in Magnolia? Rain Man? (hey, could Dustin Hoffman have been so good without Tom Cruise to play off of?). Color of Money? The same. A Few Good Men? Yep. And, Born on the Fourth of July gave me a whole new respect for his talent and abilities. It really makes me sick, though, that the media is delighting so in ridiculing him this year. For all these years, he has "controlled" his image and the media has backed off. This year he has decided, for whatever reason, to "let it all hang out" and the tabloids jumped at the opportunity to crucify him. Hey, what's wrong with jumping on Oprah's couch? Better than throwing a telephone at somebody. Doesn't much matter, though. Based on the box office of War of the Worlds, Tom still reigns supreme and my guess is he will for quite sometime.

The same readers who voted Tom Cruise the biggest star of all time also dubbed him "the world's most irritating star"! http://film.guardian.co.uk/news/story/0,12589,1675394,00.html
In my opinion any film starring Cruise that manages to garner critical acclaim is a triumph over adversity...
