Linklater's 'A Scanner Darkly': An Early Look

Fans of both self-taught slacker champion Richard Linklater and paranoid
sci-fi god Philip K. Dick should check out The Dude's early review of A Scanner Darkly, due for a limited release in the U.S. on March
31, over at Canada's Movies Online. Granted, the review is of a test screening
of the film (which may or may not be altered significantly before March), but The Dude flavors his review with a pretty
good sense of what the film is like to watch (and likens it to Terry Gilliam's Fear and Loathing in Las
Vegas). Of course, if Warner Independent, the film's distributor, ever learns the identity of The Dude, his name
will likely be unceremoniously yanked from their perpetual invite list, as the press is routinely excluded from test
screenings. You can check out a trailer of Linklater's latest trip over at Moviefone.

Hey everybody. This is the Dude here. Thanks for the "shout out" and the recognition. Like I said, the movie was pretty damn spectacular. And I really hope that Radiohead does the score. Better than your average movie. (Especially when you consider I had to sit through Bloodrayne last night).
And yeah, I do have to go by The Dude, so that the test marketing company won't find out I'm writing about the flicks. Which is pretty silly. Especially because I used to twork for them, too. Ridonkulous. But yeah, I've had to be more crafty, not to mention selective, in what test screenings to crash.AS soon as I saw this was being tested, though, I was there in a heartbeat.
Support this flick when it comes out. I have a feeling it's not going to do well in theatrical release, but don;t let that stop you.
