Golden Globes: That awful theme song
It's bad enough that the Golden Globes seem satisfied with being the exta shallow, tacky
version of the already eggregiously shallow and tacky Academy Awards – why must NBC hammer home the point with
their skin-crawlingly awful theme songs. Every year, they're bad, but this year's intro song – a take-off on the
Pussycat Dolls' Dontcha – was grossly embarassing. Josh
Horowitz actually took the time to trascribe the lyrics, and we're going to withold judgement on what would compel
someone to do such a thing, because really – the words themselves are so very painful, it's almost like by
posting them on his blog, he's providing somekind of a public service. This is like the Holocaust Museum of awards show
coverage. Here's an excerpt; go here for the whole thing. Hannibal Lecter is licking his lips to taste the Cecil B,

Don’t ya dig the bling on the robes tonight?
Don’t ya want to come to the Globes tonight?
Excuse me a sec ... I have to go clean up the blood that just came spurting out of my eyes.

Hah! I was telling my girlfriend about that horrible song last night, but couldn't remember what the lyrics were aside from insultingly lame and said, "I'm sure I'll be able to find them online tomorrow." - instantly thinking of Cinematical - and bam! Thank you.

Good god. That is truly awful. Perhaps the worst theme song ever? Could it be?

I missed the song.. I was taking a bathroom break. My husband told me about how bad the song was and how lucky I was to have been out of the room at the time. Glad I didn't even hear it!

I don't know about anyone else, but I just can't watch all these "we're so glamorous and rich and full of ourselves" awards shows anymore. Give me a break. I put my pants on one leg at a time...just like they do...thank you very much!

The only thing worse than the song was your grammar and punctuation! If you are going to make a negative comment, at leatst make it with class! English 101!

ohmighosh, the original song 'dontcha' is horrible enough, especially cuz the 'dolls' have less than no talent... but they did NOT have to make it worse!! (i love lost, by the way, just as an aside and cuz it was mentioned). i guess it's clever of them to have a theme song... no, it isn't.

The song was horrible! Once I heard that song, I'd had enough & turned the channel. What were they thinking?! I have nightmares now.

With all of the abundance of talent that our industries have, it's amazing that such an offensive piece of music can be broadcasted world-wide.
It's probably a case of the production company's son of a second cousin-in-law that wants to grow up and somehow be in the business, who got to create the piece.
My advice . . . Next time surround yourself with professionals and let them bring class and your education to the song. You had a chance to have a world-wide credit to your name and lost it. I'd keep this one off of your resume.
PS If the production company needs help next year, e-mail me. I do this professionally - for a living. GeorgeDareMusic@aol.com

If you did not see Brokeback Mountain and are calling it a queer cowboy movie, you are doing so out of ignorance. If you did see it and are still calling it that, you are brain dead. And who cares about you!!!!!

Brokeback Mountain a modern love story, Transiting toward gender change with TransAmerica, the ever forgettable Truman Copote and the dopey song were perfect matches. Walk the Line was a great movie with an abundance of real talent, but at this event it seemed odd when measured against the out put of the other artist.
