No Indy 4?

Although it's not a crucial blow, Harrison Ford has set a firm deadline (according to
Contact Music) and was quoted as saying, "if it doesn't happen in the
next two years we should all forget about it." However, he does offer some more promising info alluding to the
fact that the project is "looking very good" and Ford hasn't felt "this positive about it happening in a
long time."
I assume that's a good thing, right? But the fact that those involved are still questioning everything doesn't sit so well with me. Not too long ago producer Frank Marshall said Indy 4 was going into production after The Bourne Ultimatum (which starts shooting in August), meaning Jones won't go until at least early 2007. That's one year. And what if the script still needs more work? What if there are scheduling conflicts? We're talking about four (Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Frank Marshall and Harrison Ford) pretty important people here. All these factors could push the project back even further, forcing it closer to Ford's 2-year ultimatum.
What does it all mean? Well, if things don't seriously start heating up soon, Marshall may leave one ultimatum only to be faced with another. Though it's a bit premature, why do I feel like we'll eventually wind up with Indiana Jones And The Film That Was Never Made?

"If it doesn't happen in the next two years we should all forget about it." Actually Harrision was referring to another, shall we say shortcoming. Seems he's been taking Viagra for quite a while now and... nothing.

I think I speak for a large contingent of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" fans in asking Speilberg, Lucas, Ford & Miller to immediately scrap all plans of making another Indiana Jones film, as it will only be a massive disappointment. Consider this: which of the 3 films is worth watching? That would be the 1st one folks; the 2nd one is more aptly titled "Temple of Dumb" & the 3rd, while slightly better than the 2nd, devolved into a schmaltzy father-son thing that blatantly tore down all the elements that made the 1st film a great movie. Lucas & Speilberg need to retire & stop embarassing themselves by making the slop they call entertainment; Ford also ought to be put out to pasture as he has not developed as an actor in over 20 years & cannot seem to manage more than 2 expressions. Miller would be best served by telling all 3 of them to forget it & move on to another project.

I liked the series very much. I believe we shoould never wait 20 years for a sequel. this insatallamant should have been made much earlier. not that I think harrison isn't up to the challenge. there are other crucial characters who work with Indy. are they still alive? also is this going heavily blue screened like movies today. remember the last movie the stunts and settings where real.
I hope you don't forget about that.

Quite frankly they should forget it anyway. They were never any good to begin with. Why drudge us through yet another dull and boring movie?

It's ashame that its not looking good for the long awaited Indiana Jones saga. I dont think Harrison has to many more years to give for another apearance as the famous Dr. Jones. Let's face it he's not getting any younger. Maybe it's time to look for a replacement although I dont think there would be to many who could fill his boots.

OH I THINK I WOULD BE DISAPPOINTED IF THE 4TH MOVIE DOESN'T HAPPEN. WHEN I HEARD IT WAS IN THE WORKS, I GOT ALL GOOSE BUMPY.
I DISAGREE THAT #2 & #3 WERE A WASTE, EACH HAS IT'S OWN UNIQUENESS AND EACH SHOULD STAND ON IT'S OWN. I PERSONALLY HOPE #4 COMES ABOUT, NOTHING BETTER THAN A GOOD FORD ACTION FILM.

Well, as an ardent fan of the series, I'll agree the second one is the least favorite, but my no means the Last Crusade, so I strongly disagree that there should not be more, this is one of my all time favorite film series, Having just watched the 1997 Star Wars DVD (I am likely the last in the US to see the update haha) I do think Harrison is no where as youthful but the Bourne series can wait and Indy should not. I like both series of films though. Action, humor, the apprehensive cynicism of Jones makes the character loveable.

It doesn't matter whether or not this film gets made, espcially if this one is being furtherly dragged on through pre-production hell for the next few years to come(since it's been 17 years since the last Indiana Jones film:yep,it's been that long already).

As always there has to be at least one uninformed individual making comments about Viagra etc. that have absolutely nothing to do with the Issue at hand. Next we have the self proclaimed all knowledgable one who claims no one is interested in another Indiana Jones. Well since everyone is entitled to an opinion since we are in America, here is mine. I enjoyed ALL of the Indiana Jones series and I am equally sure that the Parties involved will endeavor to once more entertain us with a new Indiana. Harrison Ford is a great actor, and Lucas and Spielberg have certaintly proven themselves. I just hope those who have their doubts will be honest enough to come back and admit that a new episode was worth the effort.

I thought that flick was due out this summer!! Ah well, if Mr. Ford waits two more years to start filming, twill be too late. He's what, 61, going on 62? Harrison, you don't have a lot of years to mess around with, nope. Either get the thing done soon, or let it go. A trilogy of Indy films has been done, maybe that's enough.

James Bond has been reincarnated by several wonderful actors; why not just use someone else--Matthew McConnaughey for example--instead of Harrison Ford for Indiana Jones? If the script is good, then make it; if not, then drop the project.
Ford's older than I am, and his action movies are suffering for it. He should start playing character parts; he's not Sean Connery, and Sean has no qualms playing his age.

I feel that another jones film would be great. Today's movies arent films that the whole family can sit down and enjoy, like lucas' past films were. This would bring back the nostalgic feelings of the old days and would be a welcome improvement. Also, as mentioned in another comment, most films of today heavily use blue screen and CG whereas the older pictures used live-action sets/stunts. Having live-action greatly improves the sense of realism and danger. Honestly, who wants an obviously computerized explosion when we could blow up a real set!

Let there be reason! Of course there should be another film in the series, and rightly so. As well, I it needs to be as soon as possible!

Why not make it? With those names it's bound to gross enough to cover the budget. And it doesn't really matter if it's better or worse than the others, we'll still go see it. Remember, the American society is just a heard of sheep led to whatever pasture the all-encompessing Marketeers of the world want to take us to. You know, like the 'Must See' "Sahara" :-( or the 'Astounding' "Hildago" :-( I can already hardly wait to get it collecting dust in my 'Must Own' video collection.

If they wait too much longer, instead of seeing Harrison "run" when a huge ball is chasing him, you might see him "rolling" instead -- in a motorized wheel chair. Or instead of him digging archeological
artifacts up in the movie, he is one and somebody digs him up.

As much as I like Harrison Ford, I really don't think another installment would do anything positive for the Raiders franchise. While seeing Mr. Ford on TV the other night (the Golden Globes), and as he made a presentation and hearing him speak, I tried to picture in my mind this person at this age, running around with his whip and hat, playing the character that wasn't far fetched from Han Solo and all the other characters we've enjoyed/loved... and clearly, I couldn't help but think that we really don't want to attempt another installment. We might only be left with Dr. Jones pulling a Rocky - if he can enlist his son, raising him up to do the physical work while the public blindingly accepts the younger new and improved Jones... "if only we can find a way to get the public to believe that the new Indy can carry the franchise, we'd be talking about ROTLA 6 or 7... maybe more!!!" (cue the sounds of champaygne glasses: ching-ching.) Harrison, give Sly a call... let him tell you that it doesn't work.

Sure Harrison is too old to do the heroic stuff that the other films had, but lets not forget the adventures and mystery that the films gave. If done right the film can be very entertaining if taken in a different direction where Ford isn,t jumping from boats to cars or falling off mountains.
