Meeting John Waters
Filed under: Gay & Lesbian, Independent, Sundance, Cinematical Indie

Earlier today, Kim and I went to the Outfest Brunch to meet with as many filmmakers as possible and to see all the info we could about John Waters' new TV show: John Waters presents Movies That Will Corrupt You. Kim is going to post more details later with a whole slew of other pictures that I took, but I just wanted to chime in and say it was cool to meet John Waters, legendary independent filmmaker.
He was very friendly, personable, witty and funny as you'd expect. He didn't mind my intrusion too terribly and even took a moment to take a picture with a fan (see after the jump). I gave him a Cinematical t-shirt, although I suspect he may end up giving it to a friend, as he made a joke about doing so when I handed it to him.

Now this guy I respect. Don't care for his movies, but he does things his way, treats his co-workers very well and works hard.

Love John Waters. He went to F & M (like me, but not at the same time). Remember Polyester in "smellovision"?

John Waters is our hometown hero! His love of drag queen and kings is legendary in Baltimore! Having run the most successful drag king shows at the Hippo here in Baltimore (a place he frequents)was truly an experience of a lifetime! I have taken the art of impersonation mainstream along with filming a documentry of the longest running drag queen show in Baltimore, Night of the GODS (good ol' drag show)produced by Erica Meadows, hope to see you there!!!!

Love JW and his work. But I'm a bit upset that he would give the thumbs up to have his movie Hairspray remade. The question is why? Why remake an already perfect film by a film genious? I'll give JW the benefit of the doubt that it is completely out of his control. Perhaps he's not the only one with rights to his films? All I know is that NO ONE can replace Divine. So how good is the remake of Hairspray going to be? What's next..a remake of Female Trouble?

John Waters is my hero, I have been impersonating famous singers since I was a kid in my basement.
I have been professional male impersonator for 2 years now and my inspiration came from John Waters movies!
