Manson takes a trip down the rabbit hole
Filed under: Deals, Fandom, DIY/Filmmaking, Newsstand, Angelina Jolie
As Martha reported back in August
of last year, Marilyn Manson was and is eager to move from guy
everyone blames for killing kids through music to guy everyone blames for killing kids through movies. Yes, the
one-time controversial rocker is gearing up to direct his first film according to Production Weekly.
The film, you ask? Well, it's called Phantasmagoria - The Visions of Lewis Carroll, and will be based on the life of the Alice in Wonderland author as well as tie in Carroll's famous poem of the same name. Wearing a number of different hats for this one, Manson has also co-written the screenplay (along with Anthony Silva) and will score the film as well as play the author himself.
Oh, it gets so much better - apparently Angelina Jolie is in talks to play the Red Queen, while model Lily Cole is taking on the role of Alice. Okay, am I the only one who thinks this film is going to be absolutely insane? I can only imagine (along with men everywhere, I'm sure) the kinds of outfits Manson will fit Jolie with should she take the part. Yeah, I think I'm looking forward to this one.

Just rent Dreamchild. Ian Holm is wonderful.
I can imagine that Manson would tackle the naked child photography issue. For better or worse (worse).

YES!!! I can't wait for this! I'm really not a big fan of Manson, but he's an incredible visionary. It was realy just a matter of time before someone wanted to remake Alice, I'm just ecstatic to hear that Tim Burton isn't going to butcher it. (btw, I love Burton, but he ruined Wonka)

Marilyn Manson is a marketing genius. I had the opportunity to meet him several years ago, and what I discovered was a polite, intelligent man who's stage persona is just that, a persona. He give the people what they want and is not the ogre everyone makes him out to be. I am excited to see any project he is involved in.

Love the idea of Manson making this film. I like the Alice Cooper idea too. All that's needed now is to fit Rob Zombie, and Ozzy into it and it's all good! Maybe have Rob as the Hatter with Ozzy and Alice as the Tweedle's? Should be great any way you look at it. Looking forward to it!

Great, he has lost all credit as a musician, now he is going to try to direct a movie. From the looks of it he can barely direct his failing music career. He should just stick to being a tool.

Sounds very interesting. I'm not a fan of Manson though my son was once a Fan(atic). And yes my son was in a self-destructive phase but fortunately I was able to save him from some of that.
Now, Hollywood, would someone give Oscar Wilde his due. As great a potential as "Alice" has for a certain type of creativity, a good and proper biography of Oscar could win many Academy Awards. For all his burlesque Wilde was a wonderfully human and Humane individual. His life was a tragedy in motion but he wreaked beauty from it in literature. Like Nabokov he's is only remembered for pushing a salacious media envelope and not for heartrinding writing such as that that humanized the monster Humbert; or in Wilde's case the poem about his dead sister that was very short and the most poignant piece of humanity I ever witnessed.
