Del Toro makes a Killing

Back in November, New Line bought an incredibly
cool-sounding spec script from an untested writer named Travis
Beacham. The script, called Killing on Carnival
Row, is "Set in a mystical and dark city filled with humans, fairies and other creatures," and is
about "a police detective investigating a series of murders against the fairies." I'm hoping other people are
excited about this, too, and that I'm not the only freak who thinks a serious movie about dead fairies sounds
phenomenal. If I am, please don't tell me.Though obviously any amazing story could fall apart in the wrong hands, the fact that Guillermo del Toro is in talks to direct this one is incredibly exciting. Really, I can't think of a single person who would be more appropriate to take the helm than del Toro - based on his recent work, the man is a genius of atmosphere, and has a real gift for making virtually anything seem possible within the world of his films. This is truly awesome news.
The only problem with the pending deal, however, is that it could end up delaying both Halo and Hellboy 2 even further. So, I'm guessing you gamers and fanboys are not really sharing my glee, huh?

Del toro is a great guy. His non-english films are wonderful and more than that he sincerely loves making films. I've heard him speak live serval times and every time I can't help but love his passion.

Del Toro is one of the few directors out there who consistently make great films no matter what language they are in.
